On the front page of the Star Tribune, there are articles on the Minnesota Appeals Court putting the anti-nudification law on hold, and on a doctor in Texas who has gotten in trouble for recommending vaccines to her patients. See, this is why I can hardly bear to read the newspaper anymore.

I've never ascribed to the superstition that a black cat crossing one's path means bad luck. I LIKE black cats & don't want to contribute to the disapprobation that endangers them. But I am perfectly willing to decide that a white squirrel crossing one's path denotes good luck, as one did today.

I’ve always felt my hands were one of my best features. The fingers are slim, the nails nicely shaped and very strong (my sisters have always envied me for that). I dress them up with carefully curated sterling silver rings. Not bad for a 66-year old woman.

Platelet donation fail. ☹️ The 1st needle for the return went in just fine. The 2nd needle in other arm for collection struck a nerve, I yelped, & the tech withdrew it in a hurry. Once they withdraw, they can’t re-insert, & my secondary veins looked too iffy. Am sad b/c they really need platelets.

I have a clean oven for the first time since—don’t ask. It’s kind of amazing how long I put up with the caked on mess. It blows my mind whenever I open the oven door. Sad to think that this is the sort of thing that gives me a thrill nowadays. A clean oven. Go me.

My mom went to Wells College, about 25 miles from Cornell. I remember a ditty she sang in the car when we were visiting her Alma mater: “High above Cayuga’s waters There’s an awful smell Some say it’s Cayuga’s waters Some say it’s Cornell.” Boy, I’ve been thinking a lot about that song this week.

I have more issues with words that I can't remember how to spell. Ex: 'silhouette' and 'hors d'oeuvres' (the latter of which I just misspelled while trying to write it and had to look it up again). I'm a pretty good speller, but there are a handful of words I have to look up every single time.

No collection of art can fully represent what it meantand meansto live through these events. This collection is and will always be incomplete, especially as the list of ICE's victims grows. But even in its incompleteness, the Rebel Loon Archive brings together the voices of over 500 children, local artists, international contributors, Pulitzer Prize-winning political cartoonists, and people who never considered themselves artists until now.
