Unity, why would you focus so much on things whose only yield for us gamedevs is a sinking depression? It seems like you really don't like us anymore 161
Davide Barbieri (PeevishDave) @peevishdave.bsky.social · 21/01/2026In my free time, I'm working on a control rig system for my personal project (Unity). Tried some popular ready-to-go solutions but, as always, I come back reinventing the wheel 🙄 #gamedev #unity 031
Davide Barbieri (PeevishDave) @peevishdave.bsky.social · 21/01/2026I think indie game developers need a cheap, open gaming platform built on fixed, deliberately limited hardware. An ecosystem where constant technological escalation disappears, speculative bubbles can't form, and creativity thrives without the gravity of hundred-person teams. 020

Davide Barbieri (PeevishDave) @peevishdave.bsky.social · 19/01/2025The more people can afford the hardware, the more they can spend in making their games awesome instead, which are the ultimate value they can give us! 030
Davide Barbieri (PeevishDave) @peevishdave.bsky.social · 19/01/2025After all these years, people is still complaining about Nintendo offering limited hardware😅 I guess it's ok for a "tech" guy. Davide Barbieri (PeevishDave) @peevishdave.bsky.social · 04/01/2025If you feel paranoid and think someone is plotting against you, it might be a good idea to take a moment to relax and calm your anger. 000
Davide Barbieri (PeevishDave) @peevishdave.bsky.social · 04/01/2025In general, anger exists to protect us from a threat or injustice—when we feel that our rights has been violated or a deserved recognition overlooked. However, this reaction can sometimes be uncontrolled or disproportionate. 100
Davide Barbieri (PeevishDave) @peevishdave.bsky.social · 04/01/2025While chatting with my wife, I realized that paranoia can be a consequence of anger. I believe that we often fall victim to our emotions. So, stress can trigger anger. We ask ourselves why, and when we can’t find an obvious reason, we see dots and start connecting them to make sense of that emotion. 100

Davide Barbieri (PeevishDave) @peevishdave.bsky.social · 21/12/2024Alla fine è come dici tu: è tutto soggettivo. A me non piace il fantasy in generale perché ha di solito dentro cose che non mi interessano, mentre cura meno gli aspetti che mi interessano. In effetti, amo Il Signore degli Anelli e Terry Pratchett per motivi che non c'entrano col genere. 000
Davide Barbieri (PeevishDave) @peevishdave.bsky.social · 21/12/2024Disco Elysium has great writing. Other modern games like The Last of Us, What Remains of Edith Finch, Bioshock Infinite have great writing, but I won't say they're the standard. I dislike The Witcher writing. I like Deus Ex, but if you remove art and gameplay it's the most boring game ever to me :/ 000
Davide Barbieri (PeevishDave) @peevishdave.bsky.social · 20/12/2024But I still think they're good even without the nostalgia lens! (but I know that's hard to support this opinion as I'm also a 38 who grew up playing it on a 286 😅) I actually think nowadays writing standard are pretty awful, while MI1/2 are genius in their simplicity! 000
Davide Barbieri (PeevishDave) @peevishdave.bsky.social · 20/12/2024Also talking about incels... in Monkey 1 and 2, Guybrush is not supposed to save the damsel in distress, as Eleine would have effectively solved the LeChuck problem by herself without his "help". In retrospective the game opposes to a lot of male chauvinism in games of the following decades 000
