Toronto guy who weirdly wants to be involved in politics for some reason. Bizarre. Still holding out hope to represent Bloc Québécois in Scarborough Southwest (call me le chef Blanchet) He/Him

There was a, I think, Press Progress story recently about who Bradford was hanging out with, and it reminded me that I needed to come back to say hi and good job to @ericwickham.ca because he's smartly not on the nightmare site

Also, if you'd run over a person with headphones on, or someone watching their screen, you'd also run over a Deaf or blind person. Pretty sure we all agree that that would be bad.

Not much on the way of interesting announcements at this very moment but for those who maybe still follow me but (mostly correctly) are off of X dot com, I am running for City Council once again, in the currently very quiet no news at all riding of Scarborough Southwest!

My favourite part of this story was when Jeb supporters (can you even imagine describing yourself as such?) saying, "No you need to listen to the context, it was a joke!" And listening to the context made it clear that it was just... Really sad (and hence, funny)

I cannot tell you how much doubt was consistently directed at the Gaza Health Ministry’s casualty numbers and how much pressure was put on news organizations to couch those numbers as unreliable. Biden himself said they were fabricated! www.haaretz.com/israel-news/...

All the worst Canadian political commentators love Daniel Tate's "Taxpayer Acknowledgement" which is both unbelievably stupid and based on what it is needlessly satirizing as a bad thing, racist! Thats fun. Anyways he's got some real sicko followers so maybe I gotta chill on the IntegrityTO posting

I find hyper-individualism fascinating when it comes to religion. It's like some people are trying to take the "common" out of "the common good." Being a part of something larger was the central point of going to church for me growing up.

any discussion of city transit improvement online ever
the "the myth of consensual sex" meme where it's a couple saying they consent but then jesus is off to the side saying he does't, but it's been changed so it says
"the myth of consensual urban transit planning"
And the couple is labeled "city dwellers"
the man is saying "we should make it easier to not drive here"
The woman is saying "like building bike lanes or adding bus routs."
And Jesus has been replaced with clip art of a farmer, labeled "someone who lives 1000 miles away and has no involvement whatsoever." and is saying "Stop trying to take my car away I will kill you"
text at the bottom still says "isn't there somebody you forgot to ask?"

Got propane for my BBQ again so perhaps it's time to abandon politics before I let the idea that Christians think they're being persecuted in this country take root in my brain (for God's sakes)
Just wanna grill

Seems pretty telling of Toronto Police's lackadaisical attitude toward traffic enforcement that an officer feels comfortable publicly calling speed cameras a "fucking scam." www.thestar.com/news/gta/the...
I’ve had a few myself — including one in 2024 for 7 km/h over — and recently went to an office where fines can be paid to clear them. I got there shortly after 4 p.m. and asked a Toronto police officer on security duty in the lobby for directions.

He said they wouldn’t process my tickets after 4 p.m. and that I’d have to come back, but earlier in the day. We started chatting — I’ve always found most police to be friendly — and I mentioned to him that the speed cameras are deadly efficient.

“They’re not just efficient, they’re a f——— scam,” he told me emphatically, a second cop working with him nodding in agreement.

Toronto politics is like "What if we gained popular support for tearing down every good proposal in the city?" "Great idea, what if instead we simply pretended to have legitimate grassroots support?"

I think Don Stewart losing is less important than Michelle Ferreri, but it does make me laugh; his victory was the canary-in-the-coal-mine for Trudeau's departure, and... that was pretty much it.

'The Crown lawyer said she couldn't speak for the government, but noted that those streets all have public transit routes along them. But the premier didn’t say he was choosing roads with subways under them when he announced the removals — "He just picked them," [Judge] Schabas noted.' Lol, lmao
Later, he prodded Ontario on why the government only chose to remove bike lanes on Bloor, Yonge and University.

“There’s no explanation as to why those streets over any other streets," Schabas said.

The Crown lawyer said she couldn't speak for the government, but noted that those streets all have public transit routes along them.

But the premier didn’t say he was choosing roads with subways under them when he announced the removals — "He just picked them," Schabas noted.

Naturally, our Conservative candidate, Asm Tarun, didn't bother to respect the consituency by showing up, so there is no reason to give them your advocacy with your vote. The end of my very quick analysis of the SSW all-candidates meeting!

The very first policy presented by the Centrist Party candidate, Imran Khan, was about there being no sex ed in schools. Not only am I sure that is *not* a federal issue, it's also... am I crazy, that doesn't seem particularly... centrist.

Actually, the PPC candidate, Michael Poulin, also got a laugh (...at), when he brought up the tariffs and, "Trump only asked us to deal with the fentanyl!" The audience did not let that slide.

Bill Blair gave out a Liberal classic of, "Working for the middle class, and those working to join it." I actually feel like Blair got fairly respectfully blasted at our all-candidates meeting. Like, not in a way that would make a fun youtube compilation, but enough to know he can't just say shit.

A very simplified form of my considerations for my federal endorsement in Scarborough Southwest: the NDP (Fatima Shaban) and Green (Amanda Cain) candidates both talked about their struggles as lower income individuals. Literally no one else did.
