some configuration changes no longer restart the PDS. It's still a necessity for some settings, though. Tranquil support probably lands next week, if all goes according to plan. After that? I'll let you know, but whoo-ey things are cookin' here!

blob upload limits which should probably mitigate a few of the migration issues that can crop up. Of course, you can also see in the dashboard what's been going on with the rate limiter, and you can even change the limits, within reason! Also some of the backend plumbing got kicked a little so

So besides discoursing (oy...) I've been working on a few things, so, update post I guess! Work on supporting Tranquil is on-going and it's looking pretty good! The biggest feature that went live is rate limits. The PDS no longer enforces them itself, it's farmed off to our end. So we have per-IP

Eurosky, so it lives there, in Europe. If you decided you wanted to instead have it live on a small computer under your desk, you could do that too (so long as it's connected to the internet, of course). If you want your own PDS (for just yourself and some friends/family/pets/etc.) you can set one

Pretty much, yes. Any time you make a post (or, on other ATproto apps, "do something" that gets saved), it's stored on your PDS (Personal Data Server). That's what allows you to pretty much take your data with you. And it's up to you really to decide where you want your data to live. You're on

So yeah got the question just now "why no free tier" - good question, the answer is: because the spambot folks will try to abuse the <bleep> out of it. But maybe new package with very low limits (and pricing to match) for people that want to give it a test drive or for developers might be a solution
