I've also read that after childbirth, the human body releases hormones that help you forget the agony of the process. Otherwise, people would be less inclined to have additional children. I want those hormones for moving into a new apartment.

God the explanation for everything shitty in this country really is "racism" to an absolutely astonishing degree
In February 2024, the task force concluded that the bar exam is “at best minimally effective” for ensuring lawyer competency, but very effective for “disproportionately and unnecessarily” blocking historically marginalized groups from practicing law. The report also noted that this is by design: In the early 20th century, states started to “rethink diploma privilege” and require bar passage instead in direct response to growing numbers of Black law graduates. In South Carolina, for example, when the state legislature introduced the bar exam, the Speaker of the General Assembly literally stated that its goal was to “bar Negroes and some undesirable whites.” There is still a persistent racial disparity in bar passage rates nationwide.

Okay, so, multiple safe use violations there that apply equally to helium and whipits.

1. Don't hit straight off the canister unless you're really, really experienced. Compressed air can damage lungs and other tissues. That's why we put it in balloons first.

2. However safe the gas is, it's still displacing oxygen. Don't go from one inhale to another that many times unless you're already reclined. His posture could have carried forward, which would have been a rough way to fall after he passed out.

He's setting a bad example for disordered substance users.

Also, that was funny as fuck and I hope he keeps it up!

We really have learned nothing from this cycle www.bbc.com/news/article...
"There are echoes of the global financial crisis in what we're seeing now," she says. "Private credit has gone from nothing to two and a half trillion dollars in the last 15 to 20 years. There is leverage [borrowed money], there's opacity, there's complexity, there's interconnections with the rest of the financial system. All of that rhymes with what we saw in the GFC."

She's also worried that a lot of the money lent by private credit funds has itself been borrowed, creating layers of debt - or leverage - that can amplify any losses.

*wheezes* Oh so you're just a dumbass dumbass. How the fuck did this get into production, much less become somebody's cloud infra??
The PocketOS boss puts greater blame on Railway’s architecture than on the deranged AI agent for the database’s irretrievable destruction. Briefly, the cloud provider's API allows for destructive action without confirmation, it stores backups on the same volume as the source data, and “wiping a volume deletes all backups.” Crane also points out that CLI tokens have blanket permissions across environments.

cw: dental trauma I guess? David Lowery you are a very strange man and I hope your wife is the type of person who would appreciate a "gift" like that
My jaw-socket flooded with relief, and then with blood. And there it was, on a silver tray, in front of me, my tooth, the sepulchre of all that pain, its roots reaching out like three bloody tentacles. I saw now that there was a jagged, gaping hole in its crown, a little hovel that the pain had made its home in. How it had cracked open I'll never know, but the dentist let me keep it, so that I might never forget it. I gave it to my wife as a keepsake during our courtship.

Fuck Intuit, fuck Intuit so hard. There's no reason people should have to spend (this much) money to give the government information it already has!!!!
The average American spends about $290 to file. They also spend about 13 hours, often giving the government information it already has, which works out to another $486 worth of time assuming the average BLS hourly wage.

The Trump administration says that Direct File was too expensive. Compared to what? Direct File cost IRS $16 million in its final year of operation. Between 2021-2025 Intuit also got almost $500 million dollars in federal tax credits.

Core Interviews

Final Stage
30-minute closing conversation with our CEO
Offer call (if it’s a mutual fit)

Well no wonder Cantonese speakers are shit at teaching people how to pronounce things, they literally don't know how
Those learning Cantonese may feel frustrated that, despite efforts to standardise Cantonese romanisations, most native Cantonese speakers, regardless of their level of education, are unfamiliar with any romanisation beyond the conventional, Latin-letter spellings of Cantonese names. Because Cantonese is primarily a spoken language, meaning that its speakers do not in most genres of writing use its own writing-system (instead, in most of their writing, despite having some Chinese characters unique to Cantonese, primarily following modern standard Chinese, which is closely tied to Mandarin), therefore, it is not taught in schools.[citation needed] As a result, locals do not learn any of these systems. In contrast to the general use of romanisation in Mandarin-speaking areas of China, systems of romanisation for Cantonese are excluded from the educational systems of both Hong Kong and the province of Guangdong. In practice, Hong Kong follows a loose, unnamed romanisation-scheme used by the Government of Hong Kong.

Google's Cantonese input uses Yale, Jyutping, or Cantonese Pinyin (ILE romanisation), the Yale being the first standard.[86][87]

Not a specific piece of art, but the way bronze gets shiny when it's touched a lot. I couldn't find a picture of a dog statue but I've seen ones where their heads and snouts are shiny and there's something very touching (no pun intended) about that

And the issue tracker itself was automated into silence. A Claude Sonnet-powered deduplication bot processed every new issue. A sweep bot marked issues stale after 14 days and closed them 14 days later. A lock bot prevented comments on closed issues after 7 days. An analysis estimated that 49 to 71% of all 26,792 issue closures were bot-driven. Issue #38335 had 201 upvotes and zero team responses. Labeled “invalid.”

A file called print.ts contained a single function spanning 3,167 lines with 486 branch points and 12 levels of nesting. One HN commenter catalogued what lived inside that function: the agent run loop, SIGINT handling, rate limiting, AWS authentication, MCP lifecycle management, plugin loading, team-lead polling via a while(true) loop, model switching, and turn interruption recovery. His verdict: this should be 8 to 10 separate modules. Nobody disagreed.
