Early thoughts on the #avfc team for Thursday? How much rotation is too much? My prediction: Bizot Lindelhof Konsa Mings Maatsen McGinn Bogarde Barkley Buendia Rogers Malen Would like to see Elliott and Sancho at least get some minutes too.

Really pleased that Cash is finally getting his flowers. Been a brilliant signing at £15m and 200 appearances later. #avfc

#avfc takeaways from Burnley -Bogarde is a very intelligent footballer & developing exponentially. -Malen is lethal from the right side of the box shooting across the keeper. -Konsa is so much better than the bottom half PL striker -Maatsen should have started, no need for Digne

Team news is in so time for an #avfc lineup prediction. Martinez Cash Konsa Mings Digne McGinn Tielemans Elliott Buendia Rogers Watkins Buendia a bit of a wildcard but can’t Sancho won’t be ready and can’t see Malen or Guessand starting an away game yet. Agree? Disagree?

Among the many issues for #avfc we suddenly look scarily weak at CB don’t we? -Pau hasn’t had a decent run of form since his injury in 23/24. -Mings is 32 + all the injuries. -Bogarde is our 4th choice CB yet almost never trusted to play there.

Tom @pearsontombo.bsky.social · 20/08/2025

Unpopular opinion perhaps, but this would be a bad idea unless we’ve got a high level, PL-ready replacement in mind #avfc

Tom @pearsontombo.bsky.social · 16/08/2025

#avfc thoughts, + and -: Lack of width. McGinn + Cash right w/ Digne + Rogers left was one-paced & stodgy. Ball progression without Tielemans at 6 - we missed his confidence in receiving + playing fwd under pressure. Kamara brilliant second half in 2 positions. Bizot looks great.

Tom @pearsontombo.bsky.social · 15/08/2025

This is positive IMO. Suggests we’ll be busy up to the deadline (& probably on deadline day itself). Ramsey gone, Bailey imminent, progress on Moreno… hopefully means wiggle room for 2 to come in? #avfc

Tom @pearsontombo.bsky.social · 15/08/2025

#avfc predicted XI + subs? Bizot Cash Konsa Torres Maatsen Rogers Kamara Onana McGinn Tielemans Watkins Subs Wright Mings Digne Bogarde Garcia Hemmings Malen Guessand Buendia Squad already looking a bit thin isn’t it?

Anyone have the numbers for where we currently sit on these losses? #avfc

110

Tom @pearsontombo.bsky.social · 12/08/2025

If it is ~£40m for Ramsey, I think considering he only has 2 years left, and his output and injuries over the last 2 seasons…it’s a good deal, probably the best we could get. Gutted though - he’s Villa, and I still think he could be worth double that in a couple of years #avfc

230

Tom @pearsontombo.bsky.social · 12/08/2025

Cards falling into place for Ramsey to leave it seems? Lack of interest in Bailey, Martinez or others, now rejecting contract offers with 2yrs left. #avfc

Tom @pearsontombo.bsky.social · 08/08/2025

Anyone remember the Hepburn-Murphy hype? #avfc

110

Tom @pearsontombo.bsky.social · 01/08/2025

If Isak goes to Liverpool for ~£150m, I can definitely see a world in which Watkins goes to Newcastle for ~£70m. They’ll be desperate for a proven PL striker with a huge pot of cash, and we apparently still need that big sale… Thoughts? #avfc

Tom @pearsontombo.bsky.social · 29/07/2025

Another new contract and pay bump then to go with Kamara. I thought we were supposed to be getting the wage bill down?! #avfc

100

Tom @pearsontombo.bsky.social · 25/07/2025

Probably our best signing in the last 10 years IMO. A top number 9 is like gold dust in this day and age. Yet if he starts the season slowly you can guarantee the knives will be out for him again… #avfc

050

Tom @pearsontombo.bsky.social · 25/07/2025

To even approach with a loan offer seems insane doesn’t it? Possibly trying to take advantage of our perceived desperation to get people off the wage bill? #avfc

Tom @pearsontombo.bsky.social · 19/07/2025

With ~60 competitive games in most seasons these days, how does anyone have the energy to care about pre-season results?! Never ceases to amaze me #avfc

Tom @pearsontombo.bsky.social · 18/07/2025

Check them see-through socks on Calvo 🇮🇹 🔥 #avfc

110

Tom @pearsontombo.bsky.social · 10/07/2025

Gut reaction - quite pleased we aren’t signing him. Age and wages just don’t make sense in our current predicament. The fact he’s going to Turkey with no interest from the big leagues seals it. #avfc

Tom @pearsontombo.bsky.social · 04/07/2025

Finally #avfc I was excited at the time, but for me it was quickly apparent that he was physically shot - he could never complete 90mins and was unable to impose himself in away games. Yet someone sanctioned a 4-year, 130k a week contract as he sailed past his 30th birthday 🤯

110

Tom @pearsontombo.bsky.social · 30/06/2025

A good day for for the JJ believers among us - I’m almost certain now that Ramsey won’t be sold. As far as I know he’s nowhere near our highest earners and is a homegrown player for European squad. Really hope he kicks on next season now #avfc

Tom @pearsontombo.bsky.social · 28/06/2025

What a strange signing this fella was for #avfc Cost £6.2m as well which was pretty big money back in 2011.

340

Tom @pearsontombo.bsky.social · 27/06/2025

Seems clear now that June 30 wasn’t a concern for #avfc right? Hopefully the more relaxed timeframe will allow us to negotiate better fees for any necessary outgoings.

350

Tom @pearsontombo.bsky.social · 28/05/2025

Wow. I knew #avfc spent a lot on wages but i didn’t know our *average* was above 100k - and this was for 23/24, long before Rashford et al. Needs to be urgently addressed this summer.

100

Tom @pearsontombo.bsky.social · 19/05/2025

Forest winning yesterday feels like a crucial result for #avfc. I now have a feeling they’ll take something off Chelsea and open the door for us. Now to cheer on Bournemouth tomorrow (obviously) and United in the final I think? We want them hungover.

120

Tom @pearsontombo.bsky.social · 17/05/2025

I thought Maatsen and Onana were outstanding again last night. Their pace on transition (going both ways) gives us a different dimension. Going to be huge players for us next season. #avfc

160

Tom @pearsontombo.bsky.social · 15/05/2025

One of the easier #avfc lineups to predict tomorrow? Dibu Cash Konsa Pau Maatsen Rogers Kamara Onana McGinn Asensio Watkins

230

Tom @pearsontombo.bsky.social · 11/05/2025

For the first time I think 69 points alone won’t do it. I think we’re gonna need 69 and a draw between Forest and Chelsea now #avfc

220

Tom @pearsontombo.bsky.social · 10/05/2025

#avfc Ollie Watkins. Premier league record: 182 games 75 goals 33 assists There aren’t many better out there, guys.

020

Tom @pearsontombo.bsky.social · 10/05/2025

#avfc Massive win. Martinez, Cash, Konsa & Onana were the standouts I thought, but a real gritty showing from everyone. I back us to beat Spurs, then it’s United with a huge hangover, whichever way the final goes. I think we get 69 now…and I think it’ll be enough. Come on! 💜💙

140

Tom @pearsontombo.bsky.social · 08/05/2025

I know it’s a bit tiresome to talk about how far #avfc have come in 5 years, but you occasionally come across something and, well…

050

Tom @pearsontombo.bsky.social · 05/05/2025

#avfc I actually think our best route to 5th would be for Chelsea to finish with 3 wins, and Newcastle failing to beat Arsenal. Fun to obsess over all this before our inevitable loss at Bournemouth isn’t it?!

120

Tom @pearsontombo.bsky.social · 04/05/2025

A few #avfc takeaways -Maatsen & Onana will be key players next season -Kamara needs a rest - no pre-season starting to catch up with him -Ramsey deserves more minutes (& Asensio fewer) -Cash remains under appreciated -Barkley in the front 2 😦

250

Tom @pearsontombo.bsky.social · 03/05/2025

Anyone else starting to get Coutinho vibes from Asensio? Lazy comparison perhaps, but after a very bright start he’s struggling with the pace of the game at the moment. Buyer beware, once bitten… #avfc

420

Tom @pearsontombo.bsky.social · 02/05/2025

#avfc Team v Fulham Dibu Cash Konsa Mings Maatsen Malen Kamara Tielemans Ramsey Rogers Watkins -proper winger to force Robinson back (Malen or Bailey?) -Rogers back in the middle -attack down the left side (like Newcastle & Forest) -maybe Disasi for Konsa after his stinker v Palace?

140

Tom @pearsontombo.bsky.social · 01/05/2025

Still believe we’ll finish with more points than Forest. They are bad!!! #avfc

280

Tom @pearsontombo.bsky.social · 30/04/2025

Unsurprisingly, I wouldn’t be against this if we can get a big fee and replace him with a top young talent on lower wages (lad from Espanyol?) We’d lose a lot in personality from the team, though, which will need to be addressed #avfc

210

Tom @pearsontombo.bsky.social · 27/04/2025

Yesterday began with this call and went downhill from there. I gasped when I saw he wasn’t in the XI #avfc

240

Tom @pearsontombo.bsky.social · 25/04/2025

Team for Palace then? #avfc Same as Newcastle for me: Martinez Cash Konsa Mings Maatsen Rogers Kamara Tielemans McGinn Asensio Watkins We got Rogers on the ball centrally v Newcastle & need to do the same here McGinn to help Maatsen with their RWB Kamara v Eze a key battle

370

Tom @pearsontombo.bsky.social · 23/04/2025

#avfc Martinez’s form has worried me all season, and I’m really concerned it’s going to cost us before the end of the season. Every winning team needs their keeper to bail them out at some point, and unfortunately he’s been way too easy to score against for a while now.

050

Tom @pearsontombo.bsky.social · 23/04/2025

#avfc thoughts Last night was disappointing - as usual vs a top side (away), we focused too much on stopping them rather than how we could hurt them. However, I still believe we can win our next 4 to take us to 69 points, and if that doesn’t get 5th place I’ll be stunned.

490

Tom @pearsontombo.bsky.social · 22/04/2025

#avfc sounds like this is nearly done. Wonder where he’ll fit in next season in the squad. Potential Tielemans deputy? Option at number 10? Anyone know much about him?

210

Tom @pearsontombo.bsky.social · 21/04/2025

#avfc predicted XI for City guys? I know it’s almost impossible these days but I reckon sth like: Dibu Cash Konsa Pau Digne Rogers Onana Kamara Ramsey Tielemans Watkins

110

Tom @pearsontombo.bsky.social · 19/04/2025

Currently in their best form of the season: Cash Mings Maatsen McGinn Onana Watkins Added to the consistent performers like Konsa, Kamara, Tielemans, Rogers etc and it’s easy to see why we’re on such a roll at the mo #avfc

220

Tom @pearsontombo.bsky.social · 16/04/2025

#avfc top 4: Liverpool Arsenal Newcastle Man City Believe we’re in a 3-way fight for 5th with Forest and Chelsea now. Chelsea - toxic & tough run-in. Forest - wobbling. Can’t score. Their next game at Spurs (a) is huuuge for us. 12 points will do it IMO. Let’s go!

130

Tom @pearsontombo.bsky.social · 14/04/2025

#avfc I’ve done some maths ⚠️ It could now be a fight between us and Forest for 5th. 2025 form (13 games) Villa - W7, D4, L2 - 25pts (1.92 ppg) Forest - W6, D2, L5 - 20pts (1.54 ppg) Should this form continue, we prob get 12 more points and Forest 9 If so, we both finish on 66pts 😅

Only three players have 20+ goal involvements in each of the last three Premier League seasons: ◉ Erling Haaland ◉ Mohamed Salah ◉ Ollie Watkins 🆕 Put some respect on Ollie's name #AVFC
