I have questions! (And I don't expect an answer here.😄) Do you take notes? (I find myself keeping a list of characters.) Are you tracking character and plot arcs (meta level) or just lost in the story? How often do you flip back to check what's gone on before?

I'd love to hear a talk or read an essay on how you read. Both when reading casually (for fun) and seriously (to understand the work at a deeper level). (In your copious spare time.😄)

The blurb on the back of my "Photographic Collections in Texas" is an account of "100,000 photographs." Closer to 100,000,000. But the book had been printed and bound before I saw the copy.

I have just learned the phrase 'felix culpa' and worked it into my novel. Mostly, because it's fun. But in part as evidence it's not AI (which I've been told likes relies on common (predictable) words, avoids weird words). #Writing

When I moved to Phoenix in 1988, several of the major roads that crossed the Salt River went through the riverbed. They'd be closed when water was released from dams upstream, and the roads would be closed during rush hour. Finally, they built bridges.

Weather service reports about three inches of rain at Falcon Field in the past three hours! Street flooding when I lived in the Coronado District about 1990. Which is amazing when you think how flat that area is.

Wound up getting the North Wind print. (The squirrel wasn't available.) Appropriate for us. Our house in Bellingham WA routinely gets sustained 40-50 mph winds out of the north, gusts in the 60s. BTW, love your characterization of your shouty father in 21st-Century Village Yokel!

Well, I have the book. In fact, I have the e-edition and audio version. I love your mom's lithos. Any chance I could buy prints of this rabbit and the squirrel? (Shipping to the US could be a challenge, although a friend will be traveling to London and might be able to bring them back.)

One of the best books I've ever read on the process of writing/editing. I've been putting pen to paper for decades, but this book provided a very useful mental reset of how to go about it. Well worth a place on your shelf.

Birthday surprise! Unexpectedly got my author copy of an anthology with one of my shorts. Beautifully printed, and most profits going to the Bellingham Food Bank. #writing #booksky #ShortStories
Book cover, "Not-So-Subdued Stories: An Anthology of Bellingham Fiction," Editors: Kenneth Meyer, Leslie Edens, J.W. Donley. Illustration shows a robot (or person in a spacesuit) sitting on a pole, reading a tablet, and holding a cup of coffee. Mountains in the background.

I've been worrying about the past tense of 'to comm' (to send a message by sci-fi style communicator). M-W has the form commed, but it looks wrong to me. I've toyed with comm'ed and comm'd. Following your styling, I'll go with the latter.

I started writing a Sci-Fi novel about six years ago, around 65. I'm close to finishing it, and who knows if it'll get published. For me, it was about the process of learning to write fiction. And it's been a fantastic journal. (And, happy to say, the novel doesn't suck.)

And why are so many addicted to sentence fragments? Commas are free, and appending those fragments together can make a lovely sentence. (Sometimes, fragments are wonderful. And disclosure: I am guilty of overusing fragments in the past.)

Knopf was noted for always including a colophon. (Yeah!) But I wonder if Del Rey had a different attitude towards book aesthetics, maybe focused on economy. Note: Del Rey wasn't established till 1977. 1st ed, Charles Scribner 1950 notes other Heinlein works. (Can't see the whole book in Archive.org)
