We have Rona, which was Lowe’s until about 5 years ago. There is no relationship between the two companies anymore.

Unfortunately it is no longer owned at the top level by Canadians. It’s owned by an American private equity company.

Flying in a Piper Arrow over Algonac, Michigan. The Saint Clair River below is deep blue. The town looks bustling from afar. The skiy is clear with a bit of high wispy cirrus clouds. Visibility to the horizon is pretty darn clear. The white wing of the aircraft appears in the bottom right of the picture. We flew over the US, but since our flight was from Canadian airport to Canadian airport, we never actually entered the US.

To Ren’s point, batteries could be more likely to catch fire in flight than kerosene. There has been far more research into fuel safety (after disasters like TWA 800) than aviation battery safety. This will be improved over time. Aviation safety is thankfully taken very seriously by those involved.

It’s extremely rare that aviation accidents result in total loss of life. The vast majority are survivable, even with fire involved. This is due to past accidents where improved safety practices were adopted after an investigation.

The fueling infrastructure for hydrogen would need significant investment as well, while electricity is already abundantly available at basically every airport.

Hydrogen powered planes have been tested, but unfortunately they present a significant engineering challenge since the fuel needs to be kept at cold temperatures.

As someone who has had the opportunity to fly in a small electric plane that can stay airborne for roughly the same period of time, this is insanely impressive! I’m definitely looking forward to more of this!
