What a series! Second only to Gomorrah in my view.

As the story says, he's lived there for a long time. Long before they had any interest in us. It's just the right wing media said he left because of labour's tax changes. But he didn't because he'd left 10 years ago.

I know and was just joking. They were extremely lucky last season

Nowt to do with huge gap in quality between barca and most of the rest of the league. Opposition nowhere near the quality of premier league.

It didn't for sunderland last season though...

Unless we want the same teams winning things, this should always be the case. Liverpool had won less trophies than nufc before they were bankrolled in the 70s.

It's good. Very clever

French grandparents?

There's no way PSG haven't been doing the same! The transfer fees and wages they've been paying and revenues claimed. Probably even more so than city given the relative appeal of the French league. And they control uefa now...

2 of the top 3 had to cheat to get there

There is a question mark over the CL progress given the old format in 2002/03 and progressing past the first group stage into the second group stage. Just semantics i suppose though.

It will impact the atmosphere further too. Less likely to be singing/ shouting/ getting involved in the ebb and flow of the game if you're drinking pints. And I say this having just been to an Ajax game where I was drinking in the stands.

Why would be sign a new contract? Surely he'll wait, see if he can retain his place in the team. If he can't, he can leave on a free. If he can, he's in a great bargaining position for decent contract.

I actually think the last 2 home games will stand the young players/ team in good stead. Coming from 2 goals down to draw and holding on when in the lead to win are 2 things we needed to overcome from last season.

Funny how people can watch the same game and see such different things. I didn't see Botman do anything wrong at all yesterday. What merited you giving him a 5?
110
Paul Lynch @pdl1.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
I agree the whole team dropped back. In that sense you could say that we went to a 5 4 0 formation. But as Jaissle says, we seem to have a psychological hangover

Paul Lynch @pdl1.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
People saying we went to a back 5 yesterday. I don't think we did. He put thiaw at right back.

Pondered the increased work rate during the match today. He's got a lot to play for this season... new contract or new club.

Paul Lynch @pdl1.bsky.social · 15/09/2026
Proves Jonny's original point though. Some fans wouldn't have been prepared to allow Howe a transition period despite all of the changes. He knew that, so quit.

You wouldn't have been happy with howe delivering a mid table finish though...

couldn't react quick enough before game ran away. Needs to assess his want to sit deep out of possession versus a need to have options for defence midfield to build up attacks. Pressing in PL will be on a different level to what he's used to.

Paul Lynch @pdl1.bsky.social · 15/09/2026
Struggled against their 343. Both our full backs pinned back. Dropping a CM back to build possession gave us a 5131 formation with the front 4 marooned up front and Leeds gaining territory/ overrunning is in midfield. Lack of experience meant we folded for 20 mins after first goal. Jaissle /1

Or we're not if you go off last nights result/ performance?
000
Paul Lynch @pdl1.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
Still the same formation. The difference is the gap between our attack and defence is huge. Been the same all season
110
Paul Lynch @pdl1.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
No chance. Odegaard plays as a 10.
100
Paul Lynch @pdl1.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
The majority of teams play 4231, same as Jaissle had been playing. Liverpool won the title playing that formation. Arsenal won the title playing that formation last year.

As much as I hate Man Utd we really need them to win this because there's not been one home win all weekend and can't see there not being at least one home win #nufc

The player always decides. An agent may pressure them etc but a player always decides. I can guarantee you that.

Good luck setting the value to replace a player 🤣 and then enforcing that. Sounds like FIFA want to set player values... can't see where that would be legally challenged 🤔

Out of 55 shots, 25 have been blocked and 14 on target.

A good example of why the crowd were getting increasingly frustrated

Paul Lynch @pdl1.bsky.social · 06/09/2026
It all started with the foul on Elanga in the lead up to the goal. You could maybe accept that they've been told to let some physicality go. But then for the rest of the first half, he was blowing up for any little touch. Hence yesterday's game had the most free kicks of any PL game this season.
110
Paul Lynch @pdl1.bsky.social · 06/09/2026
Miley and Gonzalez treading on each others toes yesterday which they'll sort out in time. Willock great in transition, not so good when we're trying to get hold of a game. Suspect their problems conceding late are due to pace they go at first 30 mins. Most teams would struggle in the face of that.
110
Paul Lynch @pdl1.bsky.social · 06/09/2026
No, I get that those are the stats. But doesn't tell the story of his performance in the 2nd half. We got more fouls 2nd half because Bournemouth were spent (not surprised after first 35 mins) and sought to break up play constantly through fouls. Nufc.com summed him up the whole thing pretty well...
110
Paul Lynch @pdl1.bsky.social · 06/09/2026
Pardo running towards goal, promising attack, hauled down by shirt... play on. Barnes brushes Smiths shoulder then through on goal... foul. I'm not having the 'he gave us more fouls in the 2nd half'.

The way this match is going you may want to inadvertently mute it again.

Same tactic as howe played in first few seasons with Botman and Schar doing the diagonal passes and trippier pushing right up.

I looked at one particular person last year to see what their timeline was like during the 4-1 win away to Everton and you'd think we'd been beaten 6-0. I blocked them after that.

Paul Lynch @pdl1.bsky.social · 31/08/2026
No. I can just hold my water and realise that I don't have to have an opinion on everything or have a need to find something to complain about. Just enjoy it for what it is. Jaissle will get some things right and wrong. That's life. But he certainly knows more about creating a football team than you
000
Paul Lynch @pdl1.bsky.social · 31/08/2026
I'm sure Jaissle knows better about what the squad/ team needs more than you. And there's 3 sides to a transfer... selling club, buying club and player. If we can't find a buying club for Pope, or Willock doesn't fancy turkey, then doesn't matter what nufc do.
110
Paul Lynch @pdl1.bsky.social · 31/08/2026
If you sell players, you have to replace them. We were at/ above our PSR limits. If we sold, we were likely bringing in players of lesser quality. And there's little likelihood we'd have got much money for any of them anyway.

Suspect Pardo is the 10

I rate my grounds on atmosphere - not just atmosphere in terms of crowd noise, but the feeling of the place. Most of the new stadiums don't have atmosphere. I can appreciate they look nice, are comfortable, sell nice food etc. Just prefer old style.
