The Policing and Community Safety Authority is deeply saddened to learn of the death of its former Member, Ken O’Leary.   Ken served as a member of the Authority from its establishment in April 2025 until his resignation in August due to ill health. Read more at pcsaireland.ie

The PCSA met the Garda Commissioner and senior officers at the Garda College in Templemore. The items on the agenda included: - Training and development in An Garda Síochána - The strategic use of garda resources - The policing of the EU Presidency

PCSA Authority members and staff were given a tour of the facilities of the Garda College as part of a two-day visit to Templemore. Members were also updated on the training and professional development courses carried out at the college.

PCSA Chair Elaine Byrne and CEO Helen Hall were at the Garda College in Templemore to attend the graduation ceremony of 206 probationer gardaí. This is the largest attestation class since the Covid-19 pandemic. Congratulations to everyone who graduated today.

The PCSA has published an assessment of the progress made by An Garda Siochána in its implementation of recommendations of the Homicide Review. It found that 15 of the 21 recommendations in the review have been implemented, while six are not yet implemented fully. Read more at pcsaireland.ie

The PCSA is delighted to partner with Research Ireland and to fund the Living Independently & Free from Targeted Abuse (LIFT) project led by Dr Charles O’Mahony at the University of Galway. The project will explore the experiences of disabled people who have been targeted for abuse or exploitation.
