Happy #freecomicbookday / #comicsgiveawayday 2026 to all who celebrate! I don't think it's any surprise what comics I picked up this year.

The casino fight scene reminded me that neither Super Mario Galaxy game had a casino galaxy, which now retroactively feels like a wasted opportunity. Perhaps in a...Super Mario Galaxy 3? Huh, Nintendo? Huh? Huh?

My boy Bowser was done royally dirty, though. No spoilers, but I felt like his characterization was wildly inconsistent throughout. I understand wanting to make his movie version more multifaceted, but Bowser Jr. totally outshined him in the villain role, which is sacreligious.

Random thoughts: The Rosalina fight scene at the beginning makes me realize how awesome a Rosalina solo game would be. Have her flying around, waving her wand and flinging exploding stars all over the place and stuff...gah, that'd be so cool.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie was a total blast! Yeah, there were definitely pacing issues and weird character motives, but I might still like it more than the first movie, even if the first movie is probably objectively better. This lifelong Mario fan had a fantastic time.

If you told kid me there'd be a time in my adult life when a FOURTH Sonic the Hedgehog movie and a SECOND Mario movie were coming out within a year of each other, I would've flailed on the floor, slobbering all over myself. What a time to be alive. #Sonic4 #TheSuperMarioGalaxyMovie

Dunno if this is a hot take or not, but imo, rare and legendary Pokemon just popping up in the wild in Pokemon Go should become a normal option to encounter them. What a thrill it's been just randomly walking around and boom! Ho-Oh or Tapu Bulu. Love it. #PokemonGo

My first experience as a visiting author/vendor at #artcon2026 in Neosho was a fun one! Sold (and even signed!) some books, met some fellow authors, made some connections with cool folks, and gave away lots of business cards and stickers (Chip was the most popular!). Thanks, everyone!

Can we take a sec to note just how good SpongeBob and crew's designs are in the new movie? I'm not the biggest CG animation fan, but it looks leagues better on SpongeBob than anything the show's produced in the past 20+ years. THIS is how the characters should always look, IMO.

My children's book Dimension Heroes is about 5 kids who stumble across futuristic battle armor that they use to fight against monsters invading from another dimension. Think Power Rangers meets Digimon with a splash of Pokemon and Ninja Turtles. Been trying to find an agent for years to no avail.
