Studying humanities was a lot of fun, it still gives much inspiration as to research angles to tackle, but especially it enriches incredibly my enjoyment of art. I was watching an anime w the kids and ideas from deleuze (diff and rep, but also the fold) just kept flashing in my mind 1/

i noticed input lag (delay in console response) after long sessions; my os is rarely rebooted so are positron sessions. it disappears after relaunch. also autocomplete fails if the code chunks are not properly spaced after sections (in quarto). except that, it feels snappier than rstudio.

This is simultaneously so cool, as it cuts down tedious repetitive stuff to let you focus on the content, and absolutely terrifying, given the current incentives in scientific publications. It *can* be used to make science better. It *will* be used to produce tons of crap. What a time to be alive

yes also feel that the "remix" culture is not very well considered. patching concepts from different domains seems less valuable than addressing these new gaps as you said. recently failed a call, so i might be not overly optimistic :)

Reasonable, minimal collective action for a better scholarly publishing ecosystem
First, think twice before sending your work to a for-profit publisher. In biological sciences there are journal lists like DAFNEE that aggregate society and not-for-profit journals. Services like PeerCommunityIn review and publish work FREE OF CHARGE, with journal sections covering the life sciences and more. Invest your APCs back into science.

Second, IGNORE ALL REQUESTS from these publishers. Do not respond to requests to review. Do not respond to requests to head up special collections. Do not become an editor in these journals. Do not subsidise their business model.c
