No, Jeopardy. MItzvah doesn’t mean “good deed.” It means commandment. A Bar Mitzvah is now obligated by the commandments of Jewish law. Sheesh.

European American settlers arrived in Seattle in 1851. Duwamish people dispossession followed: removal to reservations under an 1855 treaty, housing exclusion in 1865, and village arson in 1893. Why is living on recently dispossessed land acceptable in Seattle?

Saudi Arabia explicitly calls itself an Arab Islamic State; Iran, Pakistan and Mauritania are Islamic republics. Saudi Arabia and the Maldives prohibit public non-Muslim worship. In Israel Muslims openly practice Islam, including public calls to prayer which is well known to anyone who has visited.

Ashkenazi Jews descend substantially from ancient Levantine Jewish populations and share that ancestry with Sephardi and Mizrahi Jews. They form a distinct genetic population from surrounding Europeans, while also carrying significant European admixture.

Ashkenazi Jews make up 36% of Israeli Jews. Hebrew was resurrected as a modern language but was continuously read and spoken throughout the world for the past 2,000 years as part of Jewish religious practice en.idi.org.il/media/27509/...

Pneumonic plague is a fatal bacterial disease that is highly treatable with antibiotics if started early (80-90% reduction in mortality). Ebola, not so much. A single unusual event sometimes garners much larger press interest than something that affects large numbers over time. Unfortunately.

And the Israelite bar on the 2nd chart is the Kingdoms of Judah and Samaria(Israel) from the bottom right of the first chart.

bsky.app/profile/pble... Most Jews in Israel have DNA consistent with Canaanite descent. As do most Arabs. Hebrew is a Canaanite language. My point was that Jews are indigenous to the Levant.

You really should read some history. The Kingdoms of Judea and Samaria predate the Roman Empire by almost a millennium. The Romans used the name for that region that had been used for 1,000 years already.

Which the UN attempted to divide into a Jewish state and an Arab state. But the Arab league rejected the partition and went to war with the newly declared Jewish state.

Yes, and it was never a political territory until the British Mandate in the 20th century when Mandatory Palestine was as much as 33% Jewish. Jews were called Palestinians.

This is a strawman argument that doesn't represent state policy or the interests of the overwhelming majority of the Israeli population. Nobody but extreme ultranationalists are looking to expand to the greater Levant.

Your facts are plain wrong. Israel after independence and the 1948 war was ~8,000 sq mi. It gained 26,000 sq miles in the 6 day war, but exchanged 23,000 (the Sinai) for peace with Egypt. It currently administers most of the remaining 3,000 sq miles, but has not annexed it.

And many of these communities arose from Jews who were forced into exile by the Babylonians in 597/586 BCE, were enslaved in the Roman wars of 66-70 and 132-135.

Israel occupies, at most, 9% of the Levant, and Arab/Palestinians are 21% of that. The majority of Israeli Jews are Mizrahi or Sephardi, many descended from ancient Jewish communities across the Middle East and North Africa that were expelled, persecuted, or driven out...

PS -Several DNA studies show that the descendants of Canaanites are Jews and Arabic speaking Levantine groups; the very people who occupy the modern political countries of the Levantine. Israelites emerged largely from the Canaanite population in the Southern Levant. Hebrew is a Canaanite language.

And, to be clear about Israel - it alone is 7% of the Levant and the West Bank + Gaza are 1.9%, so ~21% of Israel/West Bank/Gaza.

Paul Bleicher @pbleic.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Some facts - the Levant is Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Israel, and the West Bank and Gaza. The first 3 are 91% of the land mass and together have ~70-100 Jews (all in Lebanon). Israel is 30% Arab/Palestinian, Gaza 100% and the West Bank 82%. The British partitioned the Levant; the UN created Israel.

The UN said so in 1975” is a spectacularly bad argument when the UN repealed that resolution in 1991. “Zionism is racism” was a Soviet-bloc political campaign. Quoting a rescinded Cold War resolution as settled fact is propaganda laundering, not history.

Paul Bleicher @pbleic.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
The Bolsheviks opposed Zionism as bourgeois nationalism. The USSR later repackaged old antisemitic tropes as “anti-Zionism,” recasting Jews as imperialists, racists and Nazis, culminating in the 1975 UN resolution declaring “Zionism is racism,” and relentlessly pushed this at the UN.

The Kingdom of Samaria is aka the kingdom of Israel, with a capital in Samaria. Before you opine on history, perhaps you should actually understand it. Ps - Judah and Samaria both followed King of David and of Solomon, both Jewish kings.

LOL. What do you think those green bars represent that you cut off, in the lower right corner? KIngdom of Samaria and Judah? Those were JEWISH kingdoms. The word Jew is literally an anglicization of the name Judah from this very kingdom. Yehudah in Hebrew and Yehudi = Jew in modern Hebrew.

Not controversial” is absurd. “Zionism is racism” is one of the most notorious antisemitic slogans of the modern era, propagated by the Soviet Union using recycled Nazi-era tropes about Jews as racist conspirators and oppressors. Criticize Israel, but don’t recycle antisemitic propaganda.

That’s not how those connectors work. They work like “sign in with Google.” Doesn’t store your credentials. Putting your credentials in GitHub - common and unforced user error.

LOL. It’s one click in ChatGPT (and Claude) for dozens and dozens of connector plugins. And more added every week. If you are stuck using AI as search only, you are falling way behind and that’s without contemplating what you can do with Codex.

Why George Mason’s refused to sign the Constitution: #8: An unrestricted pardon power could let a President pardon accomplices in treason, concealing his own involvement. #15: The new government could evolve into either monarchy or a corrupt, tyrannical aristocracy.

This has nothing to do with Israel. It is pure antisemitism, which has alternately simmered and boiled over for millennia. Israel is a convenient excuse to go after anyone who identifies as being an engaged Jew.

My first vote was during Carter vs. Ford in 1976. The 26th Amendment changed the vote from 21 to 18 in 1971, but I was 2 mos. too young to vote in 72, the McGovern vs. Nixon election. What election was your first vote?
