Made the mistake of looking at the code of something I've been vibe coding for the last few weeks. Jesus Christ that code is fucking unreadable.

i've dreamed of this day. single file for my server with every service and a constant for the port it runs on. this gets wired into the config for each service so each one gets served the matching one, and the same constant gets wired into caddy. beautiful

a nix config file full of constants detailing what service runs on what port

@tante @jonny woah i really hate this nested quote style of post. like reading email thread you've been forwarded 1 month late

@Edent this also seems like the kind of problem that crops up where a tree structure isn't really exposed as a tree structure. I've run into many similar confusions in email reply trees which are often only exposed linearly.

Great article on unconsciously putting llm-isms in your own writing. I've definitely felt the tug to write em dashes where I likely wouldn't have used them before, and then reacting very negatively to that urge. nolanlawson.com/2026/08/31/on-not-b…

I'm sure when Homebrew came out it called itself something like "the missing package manager for mac". I have a mac. I'm typing this message on it right now. Nowadays homebrew calls itself "the package manager for EVERYWHERE" and doesn't work on my mac because it's too old.
