New paper from the Capelson Lab in collaboration with the @ranganlab.bsky.social where they found that Nup93-2 only partially overlaps with mature NPCs. This off-pore Nup pool helps silence Polycomb domains. 🤩https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.64898/2026.08.28.747911v1

His voice was the soundtrack to nature documentaries I grew up loving. 100 years of David Attenborough. Few scientists or communicators have done more to connect the public with the stakes of biodiversity and climate. Beautiful Nature's editorial @nature.com www.nature.com/articles/d41...

Happy 100th birthday David Attenborough! Nature salutes you
The science communicator has raised awareness of the natural world andits myriad interconnections on which humans depend.

New preprint from @novoalab.bsky.social ! Which tRNAs are used by ribosomes during translation? We introduce tRIBO-seq, a nanopore method to sequence ribosome-associated tRNAs and track how the active tRNA pool changes across stress conditions. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6... Thread 👇

New preprint in collab with Capelson & Schindler labs): Nuclear pore complexes are developmentally removed and rebuilt during oocyte specification. Blocking turnover prevents gene silencing and meiotic entry. Nuclear architecture renewal is required for cell fate. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...

It is always delightful to read Juan Valcarcel's thoughts. A very well-deserved Carmen y Severo Ochoa awardee and, even better, a colleague from whom we all learn in seminars and talks. @crg.eu elpais.com/ciencia/2025...

Great news in these important days to fight #HIV infection that has taken the life of so many and caused stigma and discrimination.

POM121 is one of the transmembrane nucleoporins that anchors the Nuclear Pore to the nuclear envelope. The Rodriguez-Bravo+labs identified a nuclear-soluble pool of POM121 that enhances the aggressiveness of prostate cancer, offering new therapeutic opportunities for this disease. shorturl.at/Z2Ked

Today is #WorldCancerDay, a time to support those impacted, honor the memories of loved ones we've lost, and reflect on the important work we, as scientists, do. This year's message, #CloseTheCareGap," reminds us that equitable access to cancer care is not just a goal; it's a necessity.

This is such a step forward! Kudos to the authors. KRAS is mutated in around 25% of cancers and was considered “undruggable”, being this a good example of how the drug discovery field is being changed quickly with new computing tools and power. Hopefully the impact to patients arrives also soon! 🚀
