We had three at a time back in the day, a mix of greyhounds, whippets and lurchers. When our last whippet passed, we thought we'd get something more solid, given our health issues. She became my fitness consultant whn we brought her home!

Oh, she's a cracker. 13 years old and still enjoying a good walk. We've had her nearly three years and she settled in straightaway.

Lovely morning walking around Loch Ossian last week. Caught the Caledonian Sleeper for one stop to Corrour & walked around the loch. Loads of fabulous walking, munros & mountains all around. Back for coffee at Corrour Station House, before catching the train back to Rannoch & lunch at the Tearoom.

When I was growing up in Liverpool, I often heard the phrase, 'he/she couldn't find his/her arse.' I'd say that applies to her. A terrible indictment on the Tory party that she's even considered to be leader.

We're quite lucky. The people who own the cottage we stay in live next door. We order an Asda delivery before we arrive and she puts it all away for us. When we go to Glen Lyon & Schiehallion we pass the village shop on the way back.

Perthshire is fabulous. We were 12 miles from a shop, 25 miles from a supermarket. Lovely mix of peaceful and scenic!

Lovely trip to the Perthshire Highlands last week, celebrating my wife's third birthday since her diagnosis and end of life plan.🙂🙂 We're keeping ourselves as fit and well as we can and making as many happy memories as we can. You can always choose how you play the cards life gives you!

You're correct. His action does spark a debate where I hope he will look Badenoch & Farage in the eye and ask them whether tax cuts are more important than dealing with care. And why.

NEW The diabolical defending of Manchester City Understanding an aggressive litigation strategy By me, at @prospectmagazine.co.uk (Prospect paywall is down currently.) www.prospectmagazine.co.uk/ideas/law/th... #MCFC
What can explain such an aggressive and counterproductive approach? To an extent the answer may be in the facts and the evidence. Perhaps the view was that the only chance of getting out of this was to be unhelpful as well as robust. In respect of an earlier dispute with Uefa, an internal communication at the club apparently said “Uefa doesn't respond to anything other than aggression”. Maybe the view was taken that this would work here too. Maybe the club still thinks it will work in the end, with the league being pushed into settlement on appeal or at the doors of the High Court.

But this does not offer a total explanation. What may work with Uefa may not work with other adversaries. The structure of the league’s investigation and the disciplinary approach meant that aggression would not only be unhelpful, but would count heavily against the club. An appeal on the law or procedure at the High Court in this sort of case only has a remote chance of success. It can be assumed the club was warned of all this.

There is a phrase in football punditry that “the defending is diabolical”. Here diabolical is, of course, a synonym for dreadful. But in its more literal sense, diabolical means bedevilled with wrongful purpose. And the strategy adopted by Manchester City in contesting this matter is also in this sense diabolical. The club will have known that it was unlikely to work, and that it would make things harder, but the club decided to do it anyway.

"Manchester City we have decided not to deduct any points or relegate you." - Good, see our aggressive strategy worked. "We are just going to give an extra 50 points to every other team playing in the same division as you, for the next ten seasons."

Of course. Many issues here. The European qualification and the momentum it would have created. The players we could have attracted/kept. The increased chance of winning a cup. The sense of actually having a chance of achieving. The PL now has to decide. Quasi-super league or genuine competition?

Wishful thinking meets circumstantial evidence that was tossed aside. Have a word with Masters, he'd probably dock us points again.

That's how they got off the UEFA case. They'll be hoping Lord Pannick has spotted severe procedural flaws in the PL case. They're incompetent enough that it wouldn't surprise me if they'd made some.

Paul Tran @paultrantrainer.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
They are at the final stage, where they try to worry the other side with 'things we can't say yet', to get them to offer a concessionary 'punishment'. They can't produce new evidence at the appeal.

Paul Tran @paultrantrainer.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Does this mean they'll have to kidnap Masters and facilitate his death 'under mysterious circumstances'?

Apparently there were around 15 alleged offences that Segers and Fashanu were accused of and acquitted on. All we did was score three goals.
110
Paul Tran @paultrantrainer.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
They were found not guilty. You're free to disagree with the jury that sat through the whole case. I think the bigger issue was that Fashanu said they were worried for their personal safety after the coach got torched the night before.

His lack of accountability has enabled him to play on the daft thrall many US politicians have for the Royal Family.

I'm completely indifferent to them, but I thought his speech in the US Congress was a belter.

Yes, probably because neither of them have any accountability.

My wife is Dutch and we consume a lot of Dutch/German media. General view is that UK wasn't fully committed to the EU while it was in the EU, and that's it faffing about over AI security because it doesn't want to upset the US.
110
Paul Tran @paultrantrainer.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
It's going to take a lot of work to get the EU nations to trust the UK enough to let us rejoin, and that's before we get into the detail of what rejoining would entail.

Paul Tran @paultrantrainer.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

I'd rather stay up than go down and pretend our post-humiliation Championship win is a 'trophy'. The facts I'd like to face are how many of those trophies proper ones?
110
Paul Tran @paultrantrainer.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
Presumably that includes trophies won for being promoted after being relegated?

Paul Tran @paultrantrainer.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
Remember, Masters' chief concern is 'the brand'. That's more important to him than sporting integrity. If I'm wrong, I'd be delighted to admit it!

Paul Tran @paultrantrainer.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
We went through the looking glass when the Premier League let oil states buy clubs without tightening their rule book and when the Sky 6 were allowed to get away with trying to leave the league. Any semblance of sporting integrity disappeared from those moments onwards.
