It permeates through everything. For instance, where I work (in a lpa) immigration is perceived to be largely responsible for pressures on services and HMO's are now presumed to be occupied almost solely by Immigrants. It's fever pitch stuff

Dibling apart, much of the team displayed a a worrying lack of control. The returning Dane and a fit Branthwaite may turn out to be very important in the months ahead

Maybe it's just a thing. I recall in the 90's thinking how great it must have been to be around in the late 60's and the new found freedoms being won & tbf so many people who grew up in the 70's do seem extremely keen for a 1950's view of life

If he's the best out there for us in the whole wide world then fair enough but 1. not sure he's on the way up as a player & 2. it smacks of 'a good British lad with lots of PL experience' A Talksport listeners kind of signing

I remember beforehand me & my fellow Everton mates expressing the opinion that it would be ok for them to win given the context. However as soon as the teams came out that went straight out the window A gloriously happy evening by the end

Increasingly feels like Moyes is a manager of a bygone age. The PL is less fixed than 20 yrs ago & more fast paced on the pitch & off it. Relying on a small group when you can draw on 5subs is outdated as is the reluctance to trust youth & those without PL experience. We need bravery not timidity.

80 + minutes until he makes attacking substitutions after watching that! What is Moyes afraid of?

Paul Roberts @paulrog.bsky.social · 24/05/2026
Waiting to put Beto and Alcaraz on until 80 minutes had gone was dreadful from the manager. A typically frustrating finish from a frustrating manager

He got them to Europe from 16th in his first 6 months & in the CL a year later for about the sum Moyes had last year to get us an extra point. & of course a few years ago Moyes took over the champions with a squad full of talent & got sacked less than a season later with them 7th! different class

Paul Roberts @paulrog.bsky.social · 20/05/2026
That's right, they appointed Emery in Nov 2022 after two wins & in 16th place. They spent £15m in the transfer window & finished 7th to qualify for Europe. It was only next season that he got Villa into a euro semifinal & qualified for the Champions League.. Villa have a top manager. We haven't.

Emery 9 Moyes 1 (before tonight) Btw, Sunderland have a lower squad value, have an inexperienced manager & players, finished 24 points behind Burnley last season in the league below & will play for Europe on Sunday. We won't. Moyes is an average manager delivering on average expectations.

Such a defensive piece on behalf of an average manager. In 20+ years of managing has won 1 trophy and got to 1 other final. Aston Villa similar in so many ways to EFC appointed a manager who has won 9 major trophies & tonight are in a Europa League final. Go figure.

Paul Roberts @paulrog.bsky.social · 20/05/2026
Frustrating indeed. EFC have a lot to learn. Whilst we've been messing around, Villa appointed a manager who has won 9 major trophies (+ other prizes, finals etc). so it's no real surprise

Paul Roberts @paulrog.bsky.social · 19/05/2026
Sunderland finished 24 points behind Burnley last season in the league below, coming up for the first time in 9 years with a radically changed team full of non PL players with a manager with no PL experience At the weekend they are playing for Europe too. That's frustrating

Paul Roberts @paulrog.bsky.social · 18/05/2026
Sunderland finished 24 points behind Burnley in the league below us last season and now sit above us after an easy win. Their manager and many of the players do not have Premier League experience. EFC need to wake up to what's possible

😂 Sam Coates makes an ABSOLUTE TIT of himself. Calls PM photos "fake news" then finds out they're from the Press Association. If you make a spurious, inflammatory point you never made about any official photograph before, to pitch yourself as the only reliable source, at a minimum check your facts.

Outside No.10, the ridiculous hog that is our media is rolling in its favourite muck. And it's hard for such apparent enjoyment of this setting not to add to a suspicion that it is now a default and deliberate destination. That in this clip we see Patient Zero in the UK's chronic contagion of chaos.
