Occasionally when I see a a Sixth Doctor photocall pic I’m reminded about a guy who was convinced he had rare Colin pics I hadn’t seen before. They were from the 1983 announcement. Pics that are in the welcome packet of every DW fan who pledges allegiance to 🌈🐈. Rare to whom? “Not I” said the cat!

I’m fascinated as to why #doctorwho and #startrek are virtually the same age and have the same beats (changing main characters every few seasons) but DW is still a niche fandom. Why does the viewer-to-superfan ratio differ so greatly and why is the fandom itself less weird and free-spirited?

I would ask them what *they* would like to see in the show/main characters and go from there. When I started #doctorwho, people were suggesting the usuals and none of it appealed to me. It was only when I did things on my own—tailored to my interests—when I actually found “my Doctor”.
