messing around with this idea for a folk horror jrpg kind of thingy I wanted the art to look sort of like woodcut, but not (since it's difficult to get chunky woodcut lines in low res pixel art) I like this...I think this might work, for the tone I'm thinking of

and doodled some pixel art cover art thingy for the Houses Catch Fire all the time EP will upload to bandcamp later, exhausted

pixel art of a house on fire surrounded by the shadow of pine trees. A shadowy figure stands in the doorway, outlined by flame. His eyes glow red, and a trail of blood follows him. Above it is the title of the album, Houses Catch Fire all the Time

Okay, almost done with the promotional mini video game for Rustbelt Gothic. Will it result in any sales? Who knows! But I had fun making it. At this point, that's how I do marketing. Will I have fun? Yes? Okay, do it! If nothing comes of it, at least I had fun.

051

Paul Jessup @pauljessup.com · 06/09/2026

working on some more music for that multimedia dark space opera/techno occult/space gothic idea... I see this as being very gothic, lots of ruins in space, including this crashed generation ship, and this song for it (not complete yet, but pretty nice I think)

Only one more hour until #HorrorWatch! Remember, tonight's movie is now The Awakening, and no longer Carrie. The original Carrie was dropped by Tubi yesterday

071

Paul Jessup @pauljessup.com · 05/09/2026

Thinking of calling it Black Star Heart the feeling I'm getting, a kind of dark horror tinged future, organic machinery, heavy melancholy, a semi-habited solar system, and occultism everywhere anyway, this is the main song, I think

162

Paul Jessup @pauljessup.com · 03/09/2026

and I made this short song to play on loop while drawing it, to give it inspiration, lol

141

Paul Jessup @pauljessup.com · 03/09/2026

Before work this morning I created a pixel art logo for my dark ambient/dungeon synth/industrial music "band" witchcandle of course it has to be a hand of glory

Here, have a preview of my October #folkhorror #cosmichorror #creaturefeature Rustbelt Gothic pauljessup.com/books/rustbe...

She knew she wasn’t a final girl because she fucks, and final girls don’t fuck. She also wasn’t a teenager, and hadn’t been one for about two decades now. That’s two strikes against her. Moving onto middle age, and about as pure as wastewater in a drainpipe. But Bear didn’t care, hell no. She was a fucking survivor.

After all, she was a horror junkie. And like most horror junkies she had a plan. A plan for surviving a zombie uprising, a plan for fighting off slashers, and a plan for a purge or for a home invasion. In her ratty old messenger bag she had college ruled notebooks, overflowing with her messy hand scrawled notes. Survival techniques, list of ways to get in and out of trouble. So many she’d lost count by now.

It was the only thing keeping her sober these days. The chips didn’t mean much of anything anymore, she just held onto them like lucky charms. Thinking about them even made her thirsty, and reminded her of the time before she got into AA. And then all those rotten memories would come up again and she had to bite her tongue and think about something else. Something like horror. Especially how not to be a dumb ass if she ever found herself in a horror situation.

060

Paul Jessup @pauljessup.com · 01/09/2026

okay, it's not done yet, but done enough for the moment to give you all a taste... this is my Goblin/Carpenter kind of thing. Very 70's 80's horror. Was going to cheekily call it "Deep Fog" but decided against it (Deep Red+The Fog lol) Instead, calling it They Crawl #horror #synth #darkwave

Out of the oven! Burned my one finger pulling it out,but worth it. Smells amazing. Didn't rise as much as I had hoped, but it's tricky with whole wheat flour and rye flour

0130

Paul Jessup @pauljessup.com · 30/08/2026

And now the bread goes into the oven

090

Paul Jessup @pauljessup.com · 30/08/2026

a new witchcandle song to start your morning right i'm calling this one my darkness, my heart

041

Paul Jessup @pauljessup.com · 30/08/2026

Okay sourdough is in for the long rise now. I added roasted garlic, crushed rosemary, and sea salt. The garlic is Hungarian garlic my family has grown forever, and brought over here from my great grandpa when he escaped Hungary in ww2. Best garlic ever

2190

Paul Jessup @pauljessup.com · 30/08/2026

Making sourdough, haven't done this in months. Going hard core, mixing in a cup of wheat and half cup rye, which requires asvance techniques to give the sourdough the gluten it needs for lift
