They own a large area of Trafford, have run it down, want the public purse to pay for the regeneration of the surrounding area #carpetbaggers

Old Trafford run into the ground, the women's team play at Leigh rugby league and change in shopping containers - keep your owners, you'll be playing in London in the future

Absolutely, owner of business wants to invest in his business too make it better, while another one wants to take the most out of it, while not putting anything in. Meanwhile, those type of owners want the public purse to pay for their new stadium...

This stat from Barney Ronay in the Gruniad is quite interesting There have been 22 World Cup-winning managers. All 22, from 1930 to 2026, have been the same nationality as their players. I'm surprised by that, but when you look at the WC winners, maybe not

Erling Haaland scored at the beginning and end of the second half to give Manchester City a 2-0 win in Porto, despite tempers flaring

Last year my dog had a lump on his side. I had legitimate concerns. The vet confirmed it was benign and harmless. I no longer had legitimate concerns. Immigration is benign and harmless. How hard was that?

And Burnham's analysis of what has been wrong with Britain over the last 40 years is right - but he still won't say it's all Thatcher's doing (I understand why, but that's the truth the right of centre Thatcher worshippers need to face)

The Nightingale hospitals were tents? Maybe when Florence was treating people, but Covid ones weren't - Manchester's was in the Central conference centre. That's the thing, you've got to find suitable, large enough, solid buildings, that are empty. Prefabricated housing has hardly got off the ground

'Chest-thumping machismo': The Bayeux Tapestry reveals the bloody, bawdy truth about the Middle Ages
In the 11th-Century masterpiece's tale of a contested throne, virility is equated to power – and the largest and proudest appendage. It tells a story that feels familiar today.
