Lighthouses – A poem about shyness
I had been sitting on a beach in the late evening on the southern bank of the St Lawrence river in Québec, and watching the local lighthouse. Vaguely, in the distance I thought I discerned an answering flash from another lighthouse. Years later, late at night, while watching another lighthouse after leaving a particularly unsuccessful party (for me), to which I went knowing no one, and coming away knowing fewer, but a little bit more about myself, perhaps, I wrote this poem.
