The symbology on the 1895 OS map seems to show closes and stairwells on that block.

No not that. Citroen launched a new "luxury " sub brand called DS Automobiles. A bit like Toyota did with Lexus.

They brought back the DS brand and that didn't go too well. The original Citroen DS will be my big lottery win purchase one day.

Beautiful. The Ferris wheel takes the eye initially but the beauty is in the rest of the photo.

Yes they did use 6 wheelers. Here is a photo of my Corgi model which has pride of place on my desk.

I've not been inside since the mid 70's but I did recently buy a copy of Bruce Downie's excellent "Loved and Lost" book from there. When the book arrived they had kindly put in a load of Govanhill postcards, gratis.

Govanhill baths, known locally as Calder street baths were a big part of my childhood. Fantastic place.

No...it runs diesel cars fine for a while but because it lacks the additives that forecourt diesel has...it trashes the engine's head and valves after a while. I have friends who have done this. One had a lovely 6 cylinder BMW...ouch.

Good and bad memories of my time there. Remember we played football in the playground with a lump of coal from the boiler house. On a good day, someone would produce a tennis ball. Also the cruel Mr Collins with his "belt". Not a nice man. Other teachers were great.

Given how it looked 20 years ago, the modern glass section is a small price to pay. Better than having it demolished and replaced by something glass & steel.

Quite disappointed there Terry. I'm not sure you are representing the views of the majority in your constituency.

Mate, your spaniel might be happy with the odd treat now but if you keep putting her in your social media posts, she is going to want a bigger cut. She's probably on the lookout for an agent as we speak 😉

Here in rural Norfolk our local health centre has an x-ray dept literally 30 ft from the physio dept but the physio will send you 30 miles for an x-ray because the physio dept has a contract with private hospital 30 miles away 🤷

Bellfield street must have been really late in getting sandblasted clean. A lot of other tenements were done by 1970

Such sad news. Even without meeting her, it was obvious that she was such a decent person. Her generosity during Covid was one example. I'm not really a country music fan but her recent "Rockstar" album was amazing. Not many would know it was her singing if they hadn't seen the album listing.
