This is me for the next three weeks, elevated for the most part. Then they remove dressings and I wait another four weeks to have the wires removed. What I need now are some good books!

Today, I shall mostly be having a toe cut in three, the middle part of it thrown away, then the other two bits stuck back together. As you do.

Reverse this stupidity. Find £3m easily by reducing Parliamentary catering. Net cost in HoC was £7.4 million in 2024-5. HoL catering typically incurs an additional multi-million-pound deficit, which previously totalled around £8 million over a 3-yr period. #JodrellBank

The awful Lucy Connolly is now, unsurprisingly, monetising her notoriety through a self published book about her tweet and going to jail.

Silly little man. The BNP polled better in 2010 than you did yesterday.

Me? Move this excellent book by @ottoenglish.bsky.social into this vastly more prominent position on the shelves in my local Waterstones? Do I look like I would do such a thing on a hot day while seeking sanctuary and air conditioning...?

Doesn't appear to be included in the council's thinking but I imagine they wouldn't be permitted to use it for one venue like that.

Yesterday's official 52nd birthday portrait. Lovely walk around Bushy Park in the warm sun. Pleasant change from all the grey and rain.

And the crew apparently love him, or did in 2022, so maybe they'll love Hopkins too. Shudders.

The theatre manager won't care about the petition. Here's what he said about Davidson when he had him there in 2022. Apparently they are mates and go way back.

A friend died this morning and I needed to be alone with my thoughts so I went for a walk through Hookland. Of course, I wasn't quite alone even though I saw no one. @hookland.bsky.social #Hookland

Members' not Member's. Sigh. Marketing departments seem to be staffed with people that don't know correct apostrophe use or to proofread.

My girlfriend's parents had a convertible Messerschmitt before she was born. They took it to Europe a few times, camping. This is her mum. Obviously the car is long gone but we do have a model!

I mean, we all knew Robert Jenrick was a two-faced duplicitous self-serving hypocrite but in light of his speech today there's just tweet, after tweet, after tweet demonstrating it.

First outing to the theatre in 2026 last night to see The Rivals update to the 1920s at the Orange Tree, Richmond, long since sold out. Dame Patricia of Hodge is simply divine as Mrs Malaprop. I'd say she's at the pineapple of her career.

Over on X, @britishlibrary.bsky.social states that what is universally acknowledged as one of the weakest novels Agatha Christie ever wrote is one of her finest, presumably because Netflix paid them to hold their launch party there. Really disappointing to see the BL dumbing down like this.

We're now going to expect migrants to have a better standard of English than a large percentage of the born-and-bred population - including most of the far right flag shaggers - who don't know the difference between they're, their and there, or spell the word separately. FFS.

Perfect autumn walk in Bushy Park. Warm sun on your face plus a gentle breeze with a slight chill to it. And a magnificent creature saying hello.
