Carnarvon Gorge
A small figure walking down an imposing and deep canyon with green light entering from far above.

It’s my third but for some reason I found this one the hardest. I always bought Mum a bunch of yellow flowers (she loved yellow). I decided today I would do it anyway and just see them on my table.
A beautiful bunch of yellow and white flowers arranged in a vase on a dining table with a patterned tablecloth.

Lovely sunset in Brisbane this evening.
Clouds underlit in orange and yellow from the sunset.

The towering conifers! You live in such a wonderful place. This is up at the sea to sky last October. And below the it is closer to where I live. We’re both lucky to live in such beautiful parts of the world.

Quite the light show in Brisbane just now.
A cumulonimbus cloud towers over the foreground silhouette of a tree and a building. It is lit up pink by the last high rays of the sunset and the white of a lightning bolt can be seen within.

Australasian Figbird in a tree by the local dog park.
An olive coloured bird with red around the eyes is perched above us on a branch beside glossy green leaves in front of a blue sky, facing us but looking imperiously to our left.

The poincianas are in full flower in Brisbane. Christmas is coming.
A round tree canopy is covered in abundant orange-red flowers.

A curlew chick in my local park.
A curlew chick stands tall and still, hoping I think it’s a small shrub or stick. One of its eyes is unmoving and fixed on me. It is standing in leaf litter in the early morning sun with a tree and a palm fronds behind.

A Blue Eyed Cockatoo in the park two streets over from me.
A white parrot with blue around the eyes, and pink feathers amongst the mostly white ones is sitting on a branch in the sun with its head turned so that one eye is looking towards us.

I’ve decided to learn how to photograph lightning, which is a very available hobby for a Queenslander in summer. This is an early attempt that I’m pretty pleased with, but I’ve still got lots to learn.
A lightning bolt reaches the ground behind houses and trees silhouetted against a nearly dark sky.

A lorikeet on the wires outside our house.
A red lorikeet with green wings and a dark tail is sitting proudly on a wire facing the camera but looking haughtily to the left.

Brooms Head again, a little after sunrise.
The sun is low on the ocean horizon, casting a reflection on the sea that crosses a crescent of rock that forms a still lagoon. In the foreground are more tide exposes rocks and a sandy beach.

Brooms Head, NSW north coast. Probably the most wonderful place in the entire world, but don’t tell anyone.
A couple of magnificent pelicans grooming themselves on the rocks at early morning low tide. Their reflections are in the still water in front while the sea and distant cliffs are their backdrop.

Boowinda Gorge - a side canyon off Carnarvon Gorge, one of the most stunning places in the outback of my beautiful state of Queensland. I cheated as this is an old iPhone photo but it inspired me to go back to a proper camera (don’t zoom in too much).
An awestruck woman walks between the towering moss-laden walls of a rocky canyon.

The Brisbane River not far from where I live.
A tree-lined river bank on the right curving around to the left with the trees reflected in the calmly rippling water.

While you’re doing autumn we’re doing spring here. A Tipuana in my neighbourhood.
A large tree covered in yellow flowers at the edge of a peaceful street.

Here’s a sulphur-crested cockatoo near the lookout at Mt Coot-tha, enjoying the view over my beautiful city.
A white cockatoo sits proudly and majestically on a Eucalyptus branch with the morning spring sun bathing his body.

Have been feeling pretty low and not able to engage with much, so I thought I’d just start posting some images I’ve made with my new little camera that I quite like. Doesn’t matter if anyone sees them or not. Here’s one. Some nice roses in New Farm, a cute part of my city of Brisbane.
Light pink roses with a soft out of focus coffee shop in the background. The flowers are happy living their quiet pretty lives amongst the urban bustle.
