Georgia, our young people are speaking and we need to listen. Georgia Power is harming our climate with fossil fuels, and the Public Service Commission is letting them get away with it. We can help fix this by electing people who will stand up to Georgia Power and promote clean energy like solar.

The PSC approves Georgia Power’s rates, decides whether billions of dollars in data center energy investments get passed on to us, and determines whether corporate interests or the public interest comes first. These decisions affect every Georgia household, and the public needs to show up.

Billions for data centers. What’s in it for Georgia’s families? GA is competing to attract massive data centers with tax breaks, new power plants, and costly grid expansions. But who guarantees ordinary customers won’t get stuck paying for infrastructure built to serve billion-dollar corporations?

The proper headline would have been “Georgia leaders attempt to reduce property taxes which means schools would likely experience deficits”. The word “relief” does not belong in the headline unless you are trying to make people feel burdened. In fact, Georgia property owners are already in the

Here is a video showing two examples that Georgia Power will absolutely cost shift data centers into the general rate base from their own mouths. THIS is why they wanted Senate Bill 34 killed. So that they could do THIS.

Finally, what I also can’t figure out is why Republicans didn’t get any message from last year‘s blowout elections putting two Democrats on the commission. Is the Georgia Power lobby too strong? Or are they afraid of Georgia Power? I Seems to me like what they should be afraid of. Is voters.

‘Strictest contract in data center history’ reached between Georgia Power and OpenAI
The Public Service Commission approved a contract between Georgia Power and OpenAI’s Project Camila, finalizing what officials described as historic levels of power output.

What I can’t figure out is why Jason Shaw thinks anyone would believe his nonsense about how the Georgia PSC has rules in place that protect consumers or that the Effingham Open AI contract is the strictest in data center history and a “national model”. That’s just nonsense. He is 100% biased.

Patty Durand @pattydurand.bsky.social · 13/10/2026
But that’s not all he’s done. When he was a Georgia state legislator Shaw also sponsored legislation to exempt data centers from paying sales and local taxes on data center equipment and building costs. Which passed. That’s why Georgia is #1 in the nation for data centers.

What I can’t understand is why Republicans are all in for data centers. Because that’s not the only thing Commission chair Jason Shaw did for data centers. He also wrote an opinion piece for the AJC extolling data centers. www.ajc.com/opinion/2026...

Don Parsons has been in the Georgia House of Representatives for 30 years and is currently running for reelection to a 16th term. He's signed a pledge supporting term limits for Congress, but I guess he thinks that's the ONLY place that should have term limits—why not the State House, Don?

Looks like Georgia Republicans will never let cronyism go. They will always choose the most unqualified person to fill the most important of roles because of power and money. What the hell does a utility CEO know about education? ZERO.

And we get rid of Senator Matt Brass by electing JerMarkus Jacobs. Brass is single-handedly responsible for throwing his constituents in Coweta County fighting Project Sail under the bus with his votes. He's a wolf in sheep's clothing.

And we do that by having accountability for the worst of the legislators. That means getting rid of House Energy & Utility Committee chair Don Parsons, who represents House District 44 (parts of Cobb and all of Cherokee Counties). His votes are always in Georgia Power's corner.

This seems like a tough problem to solve but it's really not. We need to flip the Georgia Public Service Commission to have a pro-consumer Democratic majority. We do that by electing Shelia Edwards and reelecting Peter Hubbard this November 3rd, early vote Oct. 13 - 30.
