Don Parsons has been in the Georgia House of Representatives for 30 years and is currently running for reelection to a 16th term. He's signed a pledge supporting term limits for Congress, but I guess he thinks that's the ONLY place that should have term limits—why not the State House, Don?

Looks like Georgia Republicans will never let cronyism go. They will always choose the most unqualified person to fill the most important of roles because of power and money. What the hell does a utility CEO know about education? ZERO.

Are you a Georgia Power customer and received a post card from them telling you that your rates won't go up because of data centers? "They pay more so you pay less." Nonsense. YOU'RE paying more. I think everyone should know the truth.

Solar didn’t simply wake up one morning more affordable. Research, innovation, and investment drove costs down by 90% in 15 years. Today, wind and solar are far cheaper than fossil-fuel alternatives.

On Thursday the Atlanta Journal Constitution published an article that Georgia is now the number one state for data centers. This is the entirely predictable result of Republican leadership in Georgia prioritizing Georgia Power's agenda to maximize profits. www.ajc.com/business/202...

Georgia has no peers for data center construction. It now leads the US.
No other place in the United States currently has as much data center space under construction as the Atlanta area, according to new data from real estate services firm CBRE.

August is the 3-year anniversary since Georgia Power built the first nuclear reactor in 30 years in the United States. It is the most expensive power plant ever built on Earth, clocking in at $36.8 Billion. Just obscene. My essay clarifies why.

Today at the PSC, staff is reviewing a contract between OpenAI and Georgia Power regarding the Effingham County data center. If staff object to it, commissioners will review it in a hearing. But if they don't, the contract is automatically approved. Here's where exploitation hides in this contract:

Yesterday, OpenAI announced they were building the biggest AI data center in the country in Effingham County, Georgia, at an enormous cost of $20 billion. "Camellia" will require an astonishing 3.2 gigawatts of electricity, far larger than Plant Vogtle's two new reactors that opened in 2024.

Representative Don Parsons claimed that nuclear fusion reactors were capable of generating power for the whole country. This kind of generation is far from ready. However, there is already a nuclear fusion reactor that can generate power… the sun. It’s a no-brainer… why aren’t we using that?

I will!! That’s excellent…except in Georgia where our monopoly utility is meeting data center demand with 90% gas and we’re paying the price for nuclear where there seem to be no lessons learned. Except at the ballot box. We’re winning there.

Governor Kemp claims GA Power is lowering rates— this is false. In the past 3 years, GA Power raised residential rates 6 times, adding roughly $60 to the average utility bill. But his term is up this November, and we need to focus on the other bad apples up for election:

Data centers would be fools not to come here... And they are no fools. Data centers flock to Georgia because of rich state incentives: 1) Industrial electricity rates data centers pay are 50% below the national average. 2) Data centers purchase expensive computer equipment tax-free.
