Morning all. I've been a bit quiet on here of late. No offence intended, but avoiding telly spoilers. Shift working means I can't always watch our fave shows live, so I am avoiding the Bsky feed. Anyway, I hope everyone is tickety-boo.

Officially start my "new" role at work today. I say new when I've really been covering this job on a relief basis for over ten years, but it feels nice to have a more permanent role with predictable shift patterns. Thanks to those who offered support and good wishes along the way.

Just read on the news that Russia has lost around half a million men in Ukraine, while Ukraine has lost around 150,000. Husbands, fathers, sons, brothers, grandchildren... slaughtered in the lunacy of a war that's going nowhere. I tend to agree with Harry Patch about the futility of war 👇

I think the big supermarkets are all guilty of price gouging. They say not, but prices are being hiked by as much as 50p, before being "discounted" against Clubcard/Nectar. It's a con! They're aggravating the cost of living issues and economic woes and need taking to task.

Yep. I'm seeing too much of it from gay men. We absolutely should condemn toxic masculinity and how it demeans women, but when I see some comments on gay social media, I really cringe. They're actually no better. *Some of us* are throwing stones in our glass houses.

We regard straight masc men as toxic due to (amongst other things) their overly sexualised attitudes towards women, but it seems to me that many gay men can be just as bad. Gay social media can be rather lecherous actually. I'm afraid some of us need to examine ourselves. Soap box away, tin hat on.

We need to educate kids about the reality (or unreality) of porn rather than trying to stop them from watching it. It's always going to be a losing battle. Better to teach kids that while porn exists, it's in no way a reflection of most intimate relationships and that consent is paramount.

Coming to the end of two weeks of annual leave from work, during which time, one or both of us has been unwell. A complete write off really. I was also unwell during my spring leave earlier this year. 🤷‍♂️ Maybe I'm just programmed for work?
