#TheGuilty #TheNoirCollective Imagine the pitch meeting with the studio executives to get approval for an optical effects budget and two filming schedules for one actor playing two parts. Somebody smoking a cigar in the meeting undoubtedly arguing for two actresses, faster shooting, etc.

Monday morning business: returning to Art One of my recent observational sketches of a local deer. Stabilo graphite pencil, Strathmore wire-bound sketchbook. #Deer #plenair #Draw #Drawing #Sketching #graphite #pencil #pencils #graphitepencil #paper #drawingpaper #Art #ArtSky

Side-view pencil drawing sketch of a female deer. Prominent outline of form, some shaded indications of volume and musculature. Deer is paused in position, with her head turned back to look back behind her. Spiral-bound spine of sketchbook pages slightly visible to the left of picture.

Hey @tcmtv.bsky.social Fix this! #TheLongNight There are multiple bad frames. It's at most 1/2-hour in the edit-suite. Solid frames available before and after, easy to replace/paint. Other available versions do not have these bad frames. #NoirAlley #TCMParty @eddiemuller.bsky.social

#Lanterns Ep.4 It's all about Sheriff Kane's silent reactions whenever Jordan and Stewart tell her things, things the Manhunter wants/needs to know. Anticipating a hair effect in a future episode, where Sheriff Kane instantly changes her hair style to bangs and back again to long hair.

#Lanterns Ep. 2 Hal Jordan to Sheriff Kane: Whose side are you on? Later, Sheriff Kane: I'm not on your side, I'm not on Macon's side, I'm on my side. Later, Jordan to Sheriff Kane: So, where are you from? Huh. There it is, right?

Underground boring machine creating earthquake-level ground-shake, no one in the compound surveils that? Super high-tech warehouse filled with super high-tech weapons... just walk right in. Nope. Ep. 4 lost my further interest, but I'll stick around to see if Manhunter was ID'd in Ep.2 #Lanterns

#Vertigo #JamesStewart #TCMParty #SUTS Only recently have I changed my mind, and now realize that Scotty does NOT fall forward, going to his death to be with Madeline (Judy). In fact, he recovers his Policeman's instincts, goes to Europe, and tracks down Gavin Elster for justice and revenge!

#Bullitt #TCMParty Of all of the #SanFrancisco vibes in this film, asking your hipster criminal-contact Eddie to get you some back-channel information, and to meet you at Enrico's in North Beach and then be asked to help out Eddie's convict pal "Soft Shoe" ... that's it, that's the vibe.

#TCMParty #TheNoirCollective #ManHunt I do like a film that circles-back at the end to where it had begun, but, damn, this has to be the most literal example of that that there can be!

#TCMParty #TheNoirCollective #ManHunt George Sanders and Walter Pidgeon are both big men. Who was cast first, I wonder? There needs to be some power-balance equivalency between the two characters throughout the film. I hope Sanders held out for a big paycheck to be this character.

#TheNoirCollective #99RiverStreet I feel every blow when Mickey hits Ernie in the neck! This movie is really quite malevolent with its violence, which is one reason I think it influenced crime/neo-noir in the 1980s and 1990s. Dirty Harry wasn't even this violent.

#DarkPassage #NoirAlley #TCMParty The seemingly too-convenient coincidence of Irene being near San Quentin when Parry escapes is actually plausible. Landscape painters from #SanFrancisco historically went north to paint in rural Marin County. In the book Irene frequently painted on that same road.

#InALonelyPlace #SummerOfDarkness Dorothy B. Hughes is an extraordinary author. The novel is such an impressive slow-build, continually immersing the reader that much deeper into the mind of the main character. Unsettling. Similar to the film, but different in THE most important way.
