➡️ In this work from the Srivastava lab, low avidity T cells were found to drive cancer control whereby high affinity T cells were associated with T cell exhaustion. 🌟 This interesting (and unintuitive) insight may help guide future immunotherapy design.

(2/3) ➡️ In this study, DeGolier, et al. found many traits of ancestral T cells remained in final CAR T cell populations, inc. cytotoxicity in memory-derived cells and better proliferation in naïve-derived cells. Overexpression of RUNX2 in naïve-derived CAR T cells also boosted antitumor function.

#ScienceSaturday CD28 is an important costimulatory molecule for T cells. However, in a recent study, Yang et al utilized a whole genome CRISPR screen in a breast cancer model to identify that tumors can also use CD28 signaling to inhibit T cells through upregulation of PDL1 on the tumor surface.
