P. Ash @pashpaw.bsky.social · 09/09/2026I'm now wondering what Jobs would do here. Is this what he wanted from Apple? #apple 000

P. Ash @pashpaw.bsky.social · 14/03/2026What's going on is this: what we're looking at for the data at the beginning are control characters. progs-n-things' fork of Hugh Pyle's ASR33 emulator (with paper tape support) seems to be helping me crack the case. 100
P. Ash @pashpaw.bsky.social · 14/03/2026AHA! I think I am beginning to crack the Tymshare tapes. #pdp10 100

P. Ash @pashpaw.bsky.social · 02/08/2025…channel for the DBS system. 3. Speakers aren’t bought off the shelf. They’re built. 4. Antennas abound. Shortwave, FM, TV…name it and there was a chance of it having an external antenna. 5. Radios, too. Some of them were mine! 6. HP vs. TI calculators. This was a HP household. (IYKYK) 000
P. Ash @pashpaw.bsky.social · 02/08/2025Some realizations that I had after being in the “normal” world after growing up in an engineer’s house: 1. Electromagnets aren’t generally toys. Still my favorite one, though. 2. A custom built closed circuit cable TV system that pulled OTA TV from one of several antennas and included a single… 110
P. Ash @pashpaw.bsky.social · 18/07/2025Somehow, a graphing calculator from 2004, the TI-84, is a $140 at my local Walmart. The newer edition with Python was $100. This is bonkers. 000
P. Ash @pashpaw.bsky.social · 16/04/2025Ack! I have been looking for that for *years*. I know what to do now, I think. 100
P. Ash @pashpaw.bsky.social · 08/04/2025So, another minor issue is that the macro1 cross-assembler doesn't have the PDP-1D's instructions. I have been working on adding those instructions into it. I *think* I have gotten TAD to work. 000
P. Ash @pashpaw.bsky.social · 19/03/2025And no, Midas in the TX-0 folder in the PDP-1 files on Bitsavers is specifically for TX-0. I tried. And the source for PDP-1 Midas is missing about half of it. 000
P. Ash @pashpaw.bsky.social · 19/03/2025Number 2 occurred to me when writing code in Expensive Typewriter. It’s not producing the correct instructions and pass 2 seems…weird. It’s not printing out titles correctly. 100
P. Ash @pashpaw.bsky.social · 19/03/2025Some things about digging through the PDP-1 assembler problem: 1. I don’t have BBN’s bespoke version of Midas for Exec-III. 2. The Macro 1962 paper tape image in the MIT seems to be borked. 3. There is a listing of an older version of Macro (and FLINT/FRAP) in the Bitsavers PDFs. 200
P. Ash @pashpaw.bsky.social · 18/03/2025It's from Exec-III's manual for the Information Storage And Retrieval System, pg. 15. 000
P. Ash @pashpaw.bsky.social · 18/03/2025Now digging through the fragments of PDP-1's Midas from Bitsavers in Expensive Typewriter and it appears to be uncompiled. I don't think it's complete (11 out of 25 parts, apparently), but it appears to be the originating version from BBN. 100
