The order of the motions at conference are set by the whole membership with one-member-one-vote. If the party membership didn't want that motion debated (knowing it would likely pass) we wouldn't have voted for it to be heard.

It's a multi-pronged bullshit attack: Scare regulators into banning Chinese / Open Source models to stifle competition. A reason to back down from their IPO plans (Which OpenAI did). Market power of their product, happy to emphasise the negative so long as the negative still projects power.

If Meta had given away Quest 3s for free, and you could only do a Google search while wearing Google Cardboard, VR would have probably looked popular too. Until people have to pay what GenAI actually costs any measure of consumer interest is flawed.

Two cars travelling at the national speed limit colliding head on is not going to have a meaningfully better outcome that one car travelling double that limit slamming into a brick wall. Advocating for mechanically enforced speed limiters as a solution to head-on collisions is deeply unserious.

The problem is they made a weird spin-off rather than an "effective sequel". DRG has occasional and generous time-pressure, it's a fairly chill experience. Their new game has super punishing time-pressure as a core mechanic, and is not at all chill. They completely missed their own fanbase.

He's choosing to make one of his first acts as PM the wilful and negligent release of millions of tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere. Out of all the things he could have chosen to do, worsening the ongoing climate disaster was for some reason his number 1 priority.

It's illegal to wear armour in the Houses of Parliament, thanks to a law that's still on the books from 1313, and I expect the bin and shoulder pads would fall foul of that. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Statute...

6 of our last 9 PMs were "unelected". John Major was "unelected" for a year and a half. It is at this point far more normal for someone to become PM without a General Election that with one.

What window units? What central AC? What Floor Units? Do you think there's some huge AC industry sitting idle in Europe just begging people to start installing stuff? Even if you want this stuff, and even if you had the money to burn on it (which most people don't) there is no supply.

Hard pass. Do you know how game developers used to "visualise that object in the world"? They hired concept artists. AI is a tool of Capital designed to finally and fully disenfranchise Labour. Full Stop. That's all it is, that's all they want, and if they get it that's the ball game.

World Cup 2026: The key issues set to dominate Fifa's summer showpiece
Whatever one's perspective, it seems certain that away from the on-field spectacle, this super-sized World Cup could be among the most contentious ever.

This is more a case of players responding to Bungie's specific design decisions that promote and provoke conflict over cooperation. Many other Extraction Shooters have a far "friendlier" player-base, notably Arc Raiders, because the developers of those games left more of those possibilities open.

No, British Indian food is every bit as British as British Indians are. Our country is enhanced by the diversity it has gained from immigration over the centuries, and this is just another aspect of that.

The Acolyte was a good show with some great ideas but unfortunately middling execution against an apparently absurd budget. I was sad it got cancelled not just because I enjoyed it, but because I think a second season could have been really special.

Given they insist on portraying immigrants as "invaders", you'd think they'd count the dozens of invasions in those 1,500 years. The Norman Invasion alone brought behind it ~10,000 Norman immigrants. Then there's the many Norsemen, the Danes, the French, and finally* the Dutch.

People have been complaining Star Trek "got political" since the 60s. The 2nd and 3rd seasons of TOS "got political", the movies (about saving whales, or the fall of space russia, etc) "got political". These idiots have always been around with their same ahistorical complaints.

You're confusing the answer that you personally like with the simplest answer. The simplest answer is that the Dems are okay with it and support it. That might not be the right answer, but it is the simplest.

There was a study done, decades ago now so I'd struggle to find it, that even TV was mostly an audio medium for a significant portion of the population. We yearn for the radio play, for the Greek Tragedy, for the oral tradition of our ancestors.

The game is being sold on many other stores, the beauty of the open PC platform, anybody that wants to buy it on PC will be able to. This isn't like Nintendo banning something from the shop, which is what an exercise of genuine monopoly power looks like.

If I give you feedback after an interview that you shouldn't come to interviews dressed as a clown, that doesn't mean I'm going to employ you just because you stop dressing like a clown. Implementing the feedback you get from people is great, but it's not a free pass.

I frankly cannot imagine a circumstance, short of a truly biblical swing in the polls, where Labour call a GE before 2029. Their entire (dubious) theory of the case is that things will eventually get better, and to give that even a fig's chance they need as much eventually as they can get.

ID cards are popular. The idea always has been. Consistently polls at +40 or so. Much like the Online Safety Act, terribly unpopular in some circles but broadly popular with gen pop, Labour are playing to the British public's authoritarian streak. I don't like it, but it's not unpopular.

When I finish a level in a video game I don't get frustrated and angry about it not being the last level. Unless I think This Is The Run then a run crapping out in BP is just me finishing another level. What makes me angry and frustrated about BP is how awful the RNG eventually gets.

No it isn't, because I'm talking about children not persecuted minorities. There is a reason we don't let children drive cars, or get married. There's a reason we legally mandate their education. Do you believe it's wrong that children aren't allowed to drive?

If kids had the "right to participate and engage with the community" we wouldn't ban them from doing so many things nor have so many adults only spaces. Not wanting to be around kids is fine and normal, as shown by human society regularly segregating children from adults.

Me five minutes ago: I'm not going to read the Prince Andrew biography, so I'll just read this article about it Me after reading these two paragraphs: LMAO GOOD GOD
Here follows some claims Lownie makes about Andrew, backed up by testimony from people who knew the prince: He had a member of the royal staff moved from his job for wearing a nylon tie, and another because he had a mole on his face. He had 40 women brought to his hotel room in Thailand over a 5-day visit. Aged 26, he had dozens of stuffed animals on his bed, one of which wore a vest that read “It’s tough being a prince.” He missed his daughter’s 12th birthday party to hang out with Epstein at his Miami beach house. He ran up a bill of £325,000 on helicopters and planes in 2005 alone. He let a Libyan gun smuggler pay for a holiday he took to Tunisia and accepted a present of a bugged MacBook Pro from an attractive woman who turned out to be a Russian spy; he later tried to get himself a free Fabergé egg on an official Kremlin tour. In his role as a special representative for the United Kingdom, he earned, in the diplomatic community, the nickname “His Buffoon Highness” by refusing to follow his briefs and perhaps even read them in the first place. Once, driving his £80,000 Range Rover to Royal Lodge in Great Windsor Park, he found that the gates’ sensor was broken, so, rather than taking a 1-mile detour, he rammed them open, causing thousands of pounds’ worth of damage.

Name an undesirable trait a person might have, and this book will demonstrate Andrew having it. He is, in addition to being a sex offender, cruel, easily enraged, stupid, boring, naive, attention-seeking, unfunny, childish, arrogant, and out of touch, as well as a misogynist, a liar, a thief, a bully, a pervert, a bad lover, a bad husband, a bad father, a brat as a child, a brat as a teenager, and a brat as an adult. Just when you’re thinking every possible slight has been leveled at the prince, and that there can surely be no greater depth to which your opinion of him can sink, Lownie relates that staff at Buckingham Palace used to have to clear away collections of “soiled tissues” in his bedroom.
