Buried in a cabinet in our bedroom, we have this CD and Cassette Player. We (almost) never use it. And it has a giant "MP3" on it, announcing an important feature? There is a parallel here for our moment as product people. Don't know what it is, but there is a parallel.

@beflagrant.com on your new case study for Contributed Systems (nice work!), the Visit link isn't clickable on desktop widths (overlay on top, blocking?)

We were sold on the idea that learning is a solo thing. Today I'm launching ReadWith, my pushback on that. I had been yearning to read deeply with others, and the app allowed this with a new mechanism: Others' notes appear as you add your own, free from spoilers. More below...
A screenshot of a reading thread with notes, showing that if you add a note on the book "Hidden Potential", the user will get access to Jordan's note, who is ahead.A screenshot of the opening screen, showing notebooks on a shelf, and a welcome note, with a way to add more notebooks, and a button to Rearrange.

Tell me if I'm wrong, but I think Nusii is probably the kind of software that's a quality of life improvement over duck-taping a process manually. If true, then a before-and-after right at the top would make your pitch clear. Like Intercom's OG page:

That's not quite how the spine of a hardcover book is supposed to be modelled

Any of you like this effect? 1. Hitting "Rearrange" on the book page 2. Enable MagLev 😂

1. I consider myself in the camp Justin describes here in the screenshot. 2. I dont concretely know how else to use this edge than by creating products and sell them. I would not join an established company by offering this mix of skills. Why would I? Why would they hire me? I don’t understand.

More like it. The original one was funky, this one is plain, clean, and obvious. But... I like this one a little less, for some reason.

Ever wonder how in Star Trek, nobody’s on their PADD, doom scrolling? It’s a loaded question, because it’s a show. I wonder, because I think it might have something to do with the adventure they’re on, and the discipline and the hurry to make it happen. You made it through the Academy!

Anybody have any idea what to do to fix bottom sticky elements in iOS Safari 26? I'd like to either hide whatever comes after this bottom sticky bar (it doesn't scroll behind Safari's new liquid bar), or position it to the absolute bottom (below the new liquid bar) safe-area-inset-bottom is no use

You know, y'all who are trashing Safari... How is it the hanging-punctuation is like this in 2025? What's going on, Internet? caniuse.com?search=hangi...

Was just at a local accelerator hub (Invest Ottawa) for an event, and look at what I found: A "Take a Book" bookshelf of entrepreneurial titles. So I took one that had a double: "Onward", about Starbucks' CEO. And look at the Montreal Entrepreneur's Guide from early 2000s!

Today hitting "deploy" on a small step with ReadWith that's been long in the making: If you're in the beta: Look for the "Invite others to read with you" link. If you're interested in joining the beta, hit me up, I'll add a few spots.

Today I'm sending out updates to friends with whom I've been reading books with my ReadWith app. The new version of ReadWith is redesigned, adds a way to discover other friends whose book reading notes I've vouched for. Looking forward to hear people's feedback.

Currently Reading... A couple of these pair well with each other. I like reading a couple books at the same time, on a similar subject.

- Start Small, Stay Small by Rob Walling
- 140 SaaS Marketing Ideas by Corey Haines

Curious for your take: What does this screen tell you, in a book club app?
Screenshot of a Groups screen, with a "Run a new group" button, two cards, one with "club" and the Club name, and the other with "Accountability Group" with what seems to be the name of a book. Each card has number of readers. The accountability group one has a start date and percentage.

Thinking of putting together a local meetup in #ottawa #yow. Tentative name: "Minimum Viable Meetup" Who it's for: devs and creatives working on side projects, digital inventions or products. Format: A recurring "Projects Night" event to start, every two week. Feedback on a logo to use (1-4)?
4 sample logos to choose from for a meetup called "Minimum Viable Meetup".

The first is a mountain range zig zag shape, sort of looking like an m followed by a v.

The second is a squiggly array finding its way to a bursting idea.

The third and fourth are variations on the idea of a network of people or ideas, emphasizing intelligence through a network.

Equal height back-card: If the back card would take more room than the front card would take, use min-w-full on both and -translate-x-full on the back card.

Accountability: Did a little more design work on this today. Just sketches, but it's for a part of the app that look pretty horrible right now.

I think I've figured out an important design bit here, allowing to show in the thread whose other notes you see... Reading With: - Your own previous reading - Readers You Picked - an Accountability Group called "Alpha" (??)

Direction #2: Move to a timeline-like layout Mockup plus hand sketches below... Reminiscent of a book crease, but that might not stay. Which direction should I take, in your opinion?

Can I ask your opinion? I'm going to design the ReadWith notes timeline away from the default aesthetic, and I have two directions: 1) Keep a chat-like bubbles layout, or 2) Move to a timeline-like layout Currently:
