I'm not yet giving up of course, but sometimes it's important to acknowledge how f-ing difficult this path of self-employment really is. Even if the programming and project-management experience is there. If the quality is there. I'm proud about the things I've managed to do, so far.

The reality of trying to do gamedev self-employed is often really disheartening. I've had multiple behind-the-scenes attempts to get this thing sustainable fail this year, without too many wins to show for it. I'm great, thanks for asking 🙃

Yes, a lot! The game is by its nature very grid-based (similar to Pokemon in that regard), so tilemaps are a natural fit to use here. Godot has quite good support for all things tilemaps too

Constantly fighting my inner self on what tech to use when working on my games. I love Godot and know it absurdly well by now, but I would also love to work on a game from (relative) scratch, using something like C or Odin with like SDL or raylib. It's hard to like everything 😩
