A small, spotted tiger cat from Bolivia may just be the beginning of a wave of new small cat species.

This 10-year-old male tiger cat is the first of his species (named Leopardus tilcayo) known to science. He is approximately 18 inches from head to end of body and weighs only 3 pounds, making him smaller than the average domestic cat. This video was captured at the Senda Verde Animal Refuge in Bolivia’s Yungas region, where he currently resides.

This girl I used to waitress with in Austin, we moved to New York together in 2003 on a literal Greyhound bus. Shared a fifth floor walk-up studio that, when it rained, had more leaks in the ceiling than we had pots and pans. We used to get drunk and smoke off the fire escape and do “sad-offs.”

Today would have been my moms 83rd birthday and my grandpa’s 103rd. He was in the Persian Gulf Command in WWII. She was an ERA fighter and community volunteer. From them I learned love, laughter, and community. I see them in the folks their age waving signs and fighting for our neighbors.

One thing that's really evident about the pied-a-tierre tax: it was a brilliant move to call it that — everyone who argues against it sounds like they're defending tax-free caviar. Contrast to San Diego's "empty homes tax" ballot measure which lost 55-45 in a 70-30 Dem city.

The U.S. Secretary of Defense just stated that—so far—the war with Iran has cost $37.5 billion dollars. That's since February. That same amount is how much the United States spent on planetary science from FY2013 through FY2026 inclusive. Thirteen years of planetary science or five months of war.

I have done my Colorado part and also helped Arizona out because they need it. Calling western geeks and geek fandom! Watching a classroom of little larval scientists have contact with a fully formed and flown scientist is pretty great. And it’s a way to change the future. We need those.
