I'm a sysadmin for a medium-sized library system, as well as a retrocomputer/retrogaming enthusiast. In addition to a fair amount of original retro hardware, I also do a lot with SBCs, microcontrollers, and FPGAs.

I use a Bluetooth keyboard for that, and for configuring button mappings in MAME. Some variants of MAME in Retroarch don't have a good way to get into global or game-specific mappings. the TAB key always works though. Need it for games like Battlezone that need to simulate dual sticks, etc.

Yeah..it's a really nice device. It's really good for most Amiga games too.

I used the previous version of AmigaVision though. The latest version doesn't seem to support saving your favorites / high scores, etc. directly into the main HDF. The previous version does. All of my favorite Amiga games that are in the new version are in the previous version as well anyway.

Also got AmigaVision working on the Rotate. I basically just copied the hdf file for AmigaVision into the "amiga" directory of Cocoon, right along side the adf floppy images. AmigaVision is just an entry in the Amiga games folder, but it launches AmigaVision with the full WHDload library.

It turns out that the problem with the Pico8 front end on the RG406V had nothing to do with permissions or Play Protect. Apparently, somehow the apk files for both the old version and the new 1.66 version had gotten corrupted. Blew everything away and installed from a new 1.66 apk and it's fine now.

If yours acts like that, I'd advise against removing that version. My other two Android devices worked fine and upgraded in place.

What's weird is that the previous version was on there and worked. I tried to install the new version (as I had on my other devices) and it popped that weird error. I removed the previous version thinking it might help, but it didn't, and now I can't install that previous version on it either.

It's odd. I was able to install this on the RG Rotate, my Pixel phone, but it absolutely refuses to install on my RG406V. As soon as it starts to install, a black banner appears along the bottom of the screen and says, "cancelling installation". Pretty sure it's not the normal apk side-load issue.

Other than that, Cocoon and the device itself are awesome. It's a little small for extended use, but the controls, screen and case are solid.

This could be because my .adf files are compressed with 7z, so the extensions are ".adf.7z". That should work, but I don't think that most people use it that way. I'll experiment with changing the compression to .zip as well as just straight-up uncompressed .adf files and see what happens.

I found what I think is a weird bug in Cocoon. When scanning Amiga diskette images, it's appending the string " adf" (the string preceded with a space) to the actual metadata, so when you I go to scrape, they all fail until that string is removed manually. Only Amiga images are doing that though.

If you're having trouble getting it on there in the first place, it might be helpful to stick it inside a zipfile, and get the resulting zip file onto the device. Then use the android files app to extract it(the downloads directory is a good place to stage it). Then use the files app to run the apk.

I'll probably run that one on mine too. I use Daijisho on my RG406V. It works pretty well, but it's a bit over complicated unless you're installing the kitchen sink. Also, I did not know about that Android Pico-8 wrapper. I just put that on my RG406V and am playing around with it.

Paradroyd @paradroyd.bsky.social · 19/08/2026
Yes. It mostly just copied itself to other disks via the boot sector. Not a problem on a standard AmigaDOS disk, but on something with non-standard boot code / format, it would corrupt it and render it unbootable. That's why I always kept the write protect switch set on factory disks.

Paradroyd @paradroyd.bsky.social · 19/08/2026
Didn't do much to the Amiga BITD, either. Usually an SCA virus. I had one come from a factory duped, store bought disk at least once. Easy to remove with VirusX. It's not really going to have a way to propagate between images on an emulator anyway though.

I opted for this one. It's Bluetooth, so it doesn't depend on the position or contact with the USB C port. Might be a bit of lag, but it's also 8BitDo, so it's going to be as good as it can be. I do really like the look and layout of that other one though. www.amazon.com/dp/B0F381K6X...

I guess my main related issue is the offset of the USB C port from the edge in some setups. I have an android phone so it seems like that might be an issue regardless of the case.

This looks good but a lot of people in the reviews are complaining that it doesn't fit with their phone case, which makes me hesitant.

I have to say, I am skeptical..seems like that might have been done in parallel someplace else. It is quite possible I'm completely wrong, but it is hard to believe.

That is funny. The FIRST time we had a color TV in our livingroom in the early 1970s was a rental, because our black and white TV had just gone out. The first thing I saw on it was an episode of Star Trek. I remember it was a scene where they were on the bridge. it was an eye opener, for sure!

The Amigo version of Rodland is my favorite. I like it better than the Arcade version or any of the others I've tried. Definitely more to be played, rather than just trying to harvest quarters.

Using PUAE on the back end on both the RG406V and Steamdeck. Games load pretty much instantly, and I don't have to mess with multi-disk games since it's based on WHDload and everything just works.

One other thing to consider is that this is one of those rare cases where a software emulator is superior to FPGA for this specific emulation. The Intellivision library is small enough that they can custom patch for every original game so that they all work nearly perfectly, even speech, etc.

I just checked..there's no way it was the same voice actor. The guy that did Moonraiser's voice was Stan Francis, and he died in April of 1966. The voice sure sounds similar though.

Also..one weird thing I remember about this game is that Sinistar's digitized voice sounds almost exactly like the voice of King Moonraiser, the winged lion king of the Island of misfit Toys in the Rankin Bass Christmas special, Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer. No idea if it's the same voice actor.
