Just kinda happy with life as it is, Man United and FPL otherwise

Wasn't particularly hot on him getting the job in the first place but think sacking now would be extreme. I might be more in favour of getting rid if there was confidence of getting a good replacement but can't see that either really. If he gets a few good results together he'll last the season.

Dont think it was particularly unhappy under Amorim. Probably quite regimented though so may be some relief with a more relaxed guy. Something off with attitude this season, last seen before Amorim ditched the bomb squad

The mood and motivation of the team were good last season under Carrick. Now they're not. What changed? Maybe a disruptive player returning to the squad?

Really good managers tend to be quite obsessive about pressing. Carrick seemingly isnt, at all.

Lethargy on the pitch is a symptom of a deeper underlying issue which ultimately leads back to the manager. He is responsible for preparing and motivating the players. If they're not prepared or motivated then... 🤷

Spurs have just crowd the middle, thats it. Doesnt have to be complicated coz we've only got 1 plan and its basic to shut down

So what we going with? Its been 3 weeks so understandable that they're sluggish, or they've had 3 weeks to prepare for this game so they should be much sharper.

If it just happened as well, you woke like in the Godfather but instead a dead horse it Harry's head attached you saying "Im an ambitious player" "Im marvellous on the ball"

But if they're so big you can't even lift them? Like localised gigantism so you've got 40kg meat slabs on the end of each arm and you need a little trolley just to get about.

Debilitatingly huge hands?

Final boss type narcissism to think its reasonable to demand your manager hold a press conference to say; "I made a mistake in having someone of the stature of Pele and Maradona warm up then not putting him in the game. If it were today, I would not do it"

Think a change of ownership is required but worry it will end up being some proxy corporate entity. I like the idea of slowing them down. 10 years of malpractice = 10 years of points deductions. 25 per season

Sorry, been arguing with City fans all week. Its fair in that the same rules apply to all. The unfairness is that some generate more revenue that others but that kind of natural/legacy unfairness does diminish over time if the rules are well designed, and it is getting there in Premier League

The rules of a competition define its competitiveness. Breaking the rules damages the integrity of the competition. Systematically breaking the rules for a decade in order to become the most successful and dominant participant in a competition breaks the competition and renders it meaningless

Think they can only be relegated via a points deduction. Personally dont care if that happens, one massive deduction is too easy to recover from. Needs to be spmething like 25 points per season for each year offending year. Make UCL qualification extremely difficult for the next decade

They wont strip titles or leave them blank. Too much of an embarrassment for the league

My boss is a lifelong City fan. Got the whole spiel off him today. 'All clubs do it' 'its all the fault of the red cartel' 'they would have still won everything anyway'

Think there's still a few years before the aged debt really kicks the club in the dick hard so maybe trying to get as clear as possible before that happens

Dave @paradoxfermi.bsky.social · 23/09/2026
Think they took the opportunity to pay off a chunk of debt because of improved cash position.

My current wc7 draft has Haaland + Gab but no premium mids and it feels weird.

I agree. I do think he's a fan with genuine concerns but his opinions tend to also be expressed in a way that will promote his own interests, which makes him a bit of a cunt. Honestly tho, just thought the juxtapose in your post was funny. I dont mean to annoy you

Suppose the problem is we're getting touches in their box when they have multiple defenders blocking shooting opportunities, and conceding touches in our box when their attackers have time and space to shoot. That speaks of being too slow at both ends

Our defending looks like old school FIFA when you just ran head on at the guy with the ball and tried to time the X button right

Dave @paradoxfermi.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
Assume he's leaving on the guy more likely to score

Dave @paradoxfermi.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
I think we should have bought a full back, of course. But we didnt. Its not an excuse to say there is a massive weakness in the team if the manager isnt trying to at least cover for that weakness with his plan/tactics

This is actually multitudes worse than anything Amorim produced in 25/26

And he accounted for it. Played deep and narrow to limit their exposure. He's not doing that now

He was playing with Dalot and Shaw last season 🤷

Remember last season when we were all like 'Carrick has brought back the fun at United'

Dave @paradoxfermi.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
United dont have anyone holding up the ball, or running in behind, or driving through midfield. They're not pressing high, or sitting deep, or staying narrow, or playing wide. All play, defence and attack, is seemingly dependent on someone doing something special

We're such a moments team. Any decent chance often sparks five minutes of really good play. Anything goes against us, like not getting an obvious foul, and we fall apart. It shouldnt be like that.

The way Carrick uses Dalot you'd think we had Philip Lahm playing at right back
