After replacing PSU, the PC does not get to bios. Eliminating variables, it looks like either CPU (as diagnostic LED gets to DRAM but not CPU) or there is something wrong with motherboard. Anyhow, I will need to get this serviced as "luckily" still have 1 month of warranty on it.

EU Kids Act Won’t Keep The Internet Accountable And Trustworthy
The EU Commission draft law to restrict young people’s access to the internet that it presented last week will come at a high cost: it will put online services behind age gates, expand the use of intrusive age verification, and undermine the privacy of all users. The EU Kids Act aims to protect children from...

So apparently the EU KIDS Act stands for "Keeping Internet Digital Spaces Accountable and Trustworthy" ... Act. Surely it should therefore be KIDSAT Act? My pet theory is that "KIDS" in this case actually stands for "Killing Industry, Destroying Services [and make life worse for everyone]" Act.

Politicians in power hate that we have free online access. They want to know who is posting what, and they want to know it in real-time. We must fight back against their obsessive, Orwellian control no matter what it takes, especially for the safety of future generations. #savespeech

I keep shouting about it for months, but this will effectively destroy video games industry, the games itself and it's pushing for age verification on the operational system level. We need to shout about it, we need to oppose it, we have to fight against this.

And now we have the EU KIDS act in the EU threatening to impose this on *every* internet platform, videogames included. As someone who has made great friends over the web and struggles to find any where I live, they are isolating me. And forcing me to give up my privacy to prove I'm an adult.

It's adults that would be prosecuted for bypassing age verification... which just makes it illegal for adults to view the internet without being surveilled. They are removing privacy and what information you are allowed to access, stop letting them blatantly lie about 'protecting kids'

Tomorrow, Discord will place everyone into an age group using account signals. They claim 90% of users won't have to confirm their age. They are also introducing new verification methods if you do need to verify that you are an adult, including Credit Cards and App Stores.
More than 90% of you won’t be asked to confirm your age. Since our last post about teen safety, we've had to launch age assurance solutions in more places, including Texas and Brazil. Laws requiring age assurance are expanding around the world. Rather than waiting to be told how to do it, we’re launching our own privacy-preserving approach: one that reflects your feedback.
You can check your age group status at User Settings > Account Status. We've estimated your age group automatically from account signals like how long your account has existed or the kinds of servers you're a part of. We don’t look at your messages, calls, or other content. We're launching this over the course of this week, so it may take a few days to reach your account.
If you're in the adult age group (18+), nothing changes. If you're in the teen age group (13-17), you can keep messaging friends, joining voice calls, and participating in non-age-restricted servers, but with additional safety protections that block age-restricted content, spaces, and settings. Otherwise, Discord works the same. More on this below.
We've added several new ways to confirm your age, including some that don't require an ID or selfie (including credit cards). If you're an adult but weren't automatically placed in the adult age group, you can confirm your age group at any time by going to User Settings > Account Status. More on the new options below.

While I try to not get politics mixed in on this account, politics do mix into it by force. This is something that cannot go silently - and no major TV station or newsletter here will cover it so - it must be talked about. It must be opposed. This is a mass surveillance and population control.

It's official now that von der Leyen will be supporting this. In no way it will help kids, but it will be a system that will allow identification of those that they don't like on the internet, tie to their ID and with time limit more access and freedom to information and speech.
