Peter @papaalpha.bsky.social · 24/01/2025I swear I see more intelligence in the eyes of this chicken than I’ve seen in some people lately! 0141
Peter @papaalpha.bsky.social · 15/01/2025Big tide country! Fishing boat off Parrsboro Nova Scotia. The tidal flow in the deep, 5-kilometre-wide channel equals the combined flow of all the rivers and streams on Earth, estimated at about 4 cubic kilometres per hour. 0101
Peter @papaalpha.bsky.social · 24/11/2024They are doing well. I think they’re smart enough to recognize their predators, and they know man is not one! 000
Peter @papaalpha.bsky.social · 24/11/2024Female Northern Cardinal It’s true! The male Y chromosome took all the red color, leaving only tiny crumbs for mama! 1271

Peter @papaalpha.bsky.social · 21/11/2024Lol yes, I think they are responsible for those reports of huge pterodactyl type beasts in the sky. If you see them flying overhead and they’re backlit by the sun, it’s easy to imagine a pterodactyl! 010
Peter @papaalpha.bsky.social · 21/11/2024Mostly lighting and tight focus in on a small area of the bird gives a different perspective. If I showed you a picture of the whole bird, you wouldn’t focus in on the areas that you’re looking at in this crop, accenting its whiskers and fine delicate feathers! 010
Peter @papaalpha.bsky.social · 21/11/2024Definitely a blue jay. We’re in eastern Canada, and this is our blue jay. The white you are seeing is on its breast, as this is extreme closeup. It has blue back and wings. 100
Peter @papaalpha.bsky.social · 20/11/2024Hi Joyce, I used a Canon 5Dsr and a Canon L series 300mm lens. 010
Peter @papaalpha.bsky.social · 20/11/2024Portrait of a Blue Jay It looks wise I think. Reminds me of Yoda! #birds #nature #photograpy #wildlife 1663732
Peter @papaalpha.bsky.social · 20/11/2024You could be right! All depends how the feed algorithms work and what happens when you like a certain pic. And, this is a new app. Lots of fine tuning as it grows. 000
Peter @papaalpha.bsky.social · 19/11/2024Yeah, that’s bad stuff. Hollywood would use it to kill people in movie scenes! 010
Peter @papaalpha.bsky.social · 19/11/2024Great Blue Heron #4 So, my top 3 performing pics (on likes) are all heron pics, and I'm definitely getting the hint. This group likes herons! Here's another. If you guys like this one too, I'll try to follow up with more! #birds #nature #photography #wildlife #heron 81287
Peter @papaalpha.bsky.social · 19/11/2024Bald eagle slaking it's thirst. Seems it might have a drinking problem with all that dribbling going on! LMAO I wonder if lips 💋 might be helpful in this situation? 🤣 #birds #nature #eagle #wildlife #photography 6828
Peter @papaalpha.bsky.social · 19/11/2024Atlantic Fury My favourite wave pic, taken during a storm blowing on the south shore of #novascotia, December 2020. 4-5 meter swells pounded the rocks for hours. This was taken at a safe distance using a telephoto lens. #photography #atlantic #storm 3482
Peter @papaalpha.bsky.social · 19/11/2024I’m usually using camera. I find video requires a tripod for wildlife, and it’s getting too much to haul on a field trip. 120
Peter @papaalpha.bsky.social · 19/11/2024Irish dancing of course! Hilarious to watch! Actually I think it’s landing from a sort of long, wing supported “hop” across the pond. 120
Peter @papaalpha.bsky.social · 18/11/2024My apologies for the poor image quality of this pic, but I'm posting it as evidence, to debunk the myth that herons look like dinosaurs! Rubbish! I've never heard of anything so ridiculous! #birds #heron #nature #novascotia 1632
Peter @papaalpha.bsky.social · 18/11/2024Great Blue Heron Another shot of this bird from the same session as posted earlier. #birds #heron #nature #wildlife #photography #novascotia 1269521
Peter @papaalpha.bsky.social · 18/11/2024Yes I got a fantastic start with the heron shots I posted early on! Going to be a tough slog to top that. Folks like herons here I guess! 010

Peter @papaalpha.bsky.social · 18/11/2024You may have a leucistic bird. You don’t have any pics showing the bill shape/size? That would be helpful to narrow down the possibilities. 110

Peter @papaalpha.bsky.social · 18/11/2024I love your comment and it gives my joy. If my pic lifts up your day a bit, my mission is complete! Thanks so much for sharing, and be happy! 010
Peter @papaalpha.bsky.social · 18/11/2024I certainly understand that. At its worst I carried the 5d body and 150-500mm Sigma around. Must be over 10 pounds! 100
Peter @papaalpha.bsky.social · 18/11/2024First, I’ve got a 7 year archive at my disposal, so it’s not like I’m darting out every morning to shoot new pics and post my results by supper 😆. I did many weekend road trips to make these! 100
Peter @papaalpha.bsky.social · 18/11/2024Thank you. But alas, it’s not my art. I just took the picture. 110
