Do you also type, do something else, then forget you've typed typed something? Very relatable.

Lol. No.
Just another link exchange scheme request. Or you could ask what kind of content/data study we're working on, and offer to fill the missing gaps...

So until enough autonomy is set up into the system where the whole lifecycle of energy, data, and compute can become a virtuous cycle, Skynet isn't here just yet. The paperclip maximizer isn't here to turn us into paper clips. But boy have we moved the Overton window.

Did I miss the memo or something but wasn't recursive self-improvement already a thing at the AI labs? I think the question becomes what kind of function does that improvement look like. Labs are claiming parabolic. And yet synthetic data is leading to model collapse. Isn't that the constraint?

9/14 is officially the first day of my 4-week sabbatical. 1. Rebrand 2. Get the site going 3. Get the aggressive unsubscribe newsletter going. 4. Be healthier and happier I'll be in Germany and Austria for the first time (Oktoberfest). I think this may be the last time I drink beer.

"We have now seen that even the rumor of someone working on a problem can trigger a massive amount of AI-powered effort to flatten it before the original research project has time to reach its full potential. " Yikes.

If you're going to name an AI assistant, pick a name nobody has. Because one second order effect of a popular AI assistant is a lot of bullying and lame jokes. Oh, and devices triggering way too often, resulting in lots of unintended commands acted upon when broadcasted on the news.

A platform migration happened and I'm screaming inside after just finding about it 2 days before I'm going on my 4 week sabbatical. Yes, it's out of our scope. But it hurts a lot to see something done so so wrong.

One habit that's hard to break is not using voice-to-text. I know it's superior these days, but habits die hard.

I'm about to go on a sabbatical and Friday is going to be the last day I'm "working" and doing work at HubSpot. Yet my idea of a sabbatical is to fly to Berlin and compete in an SEO competition on my own dime. So no, I'm not really disconnecting.

One of the emergent behaviors I'm starting to have with AI is... well, imagining if a language barrier doesn't exist. It does. The models are at different levels of sophistication. But the gap is shrinking, and I'm a fan. (Gemini is not surprisingly the best so far)

I went to lunch at the cafeteria at 1pm in the afternoon. 我去吃午飯選在食堂ㄧ點鐘的下午 (A native speaker would look at you weird if you said this to them) 我下午一點去食堂吃午飯 I, on an afternoon, at 1pm, went to a cafeteria to eat lunch. (這讀起來很不舒服)

One of the annoying things about localization vs translation is that the natural order of sentences is often different. The subject, time, and place happens before a verb in Mandarin. In English, it happens after the verb.

I just left a recorded meeting on because I X'ed and alt-tabbed, but was stopped as a "host" so it kept recording. 20 minutes of silence. I hope.

But that was just the side quest. I drove around 4 hours to and back to see my college friends who have married and had two kids - to spend just 3-4 hours with them. Who knows when the next time we meet may be.

Went to the epitome of American capitalism on display - according to me, it is the American Dream Mall. An observatory overlooking the New York skyline. Roller coasters, giant water slides, skiing and skating indoors. An aquarium, arcade, and art experiences. Store varieties that scream diversity.

I think about all the athletes that are so dominant that they not only change the rules of the game, but the "meta" of how games are played as well. Taller point guards have become a thing, along with taller everyone. The average height of an NBA player is 200 cm (6'7).

I've been going down this weird rabbit-hole of following Yuki Kawamura, the basketball player, known for his dynamic vision of the court and fighting stay in the NBA given his short stature. 5 foot 7 is 170 centimeters. Makes me think of those NBA video games where you make your own team.

Text files are one of the supported indexable documents. developers.google.com/search/docs/... Google treats it like a document. lt is still not a standard for search or chat + search enabled, but devs use it for agent instruction. e.g. github.com/google/adk-d...

So yeah, fix the memory leak and the soft 404's went away. Probably still the weirdest 404 I've ever had to deal with.
000
Victor @panvictor.bsky.social · 02/09/2026
As it turns out there was a memory leak to the quickly put together app. When it was OOM nothing would load (remember SPA's serve 200 in http headers) - hence the soft 404. Googlebot hit that a few times and boom, pages would get removed from search. And sometimes, reappear.
100
Victor @panvictor.bsky.social · 02/09/2026
To the logs! And of course what shows up is that some attempts by googlebot were 4xx's but in some cases they just showed up as 200's. Wait a moment, didn't we say that these were soft 404's? Oh snap.

Victor @panvictor.bsky.social · 02/09/2026
Then because you have things automated to catch weird things, I started getting 404's. Specifically, soft 404's. Pages within Academy.hubspot.com were getting deindexed in search results. You visit the page, it's there. You check GSC and you find dates of de-indexing.

My favorite 404 story is academy.hubspot.com. Long story short, that property has switched hands between being owned by product and then being owned by marketing. Marketing (and SEO) wants to keep it server-side rendered. Product wants it to be a react app SPA. So they got it.

Another day, another person using "best crm software" as an AI Search example. I mean industry friend - not just any other person. It's a weird feeling when you take turns owning a set of search terms inhouse... I was hired to do it, moved on, went back, moved on, went back with AI, moved on.

Nothing quite like watching your ol' Disney movie or Japanese video game and realize in horror how politically incorrect things become in a few decades. Thinks in Snow White and Street Fighter. My girls are weirded out that I "liked" gratuitous blood and gore in my games as a kid. Finish him!

We've got an enterprise AI assistant that has access to a bunch of stuff and the main use case has been stakeholder management and pulling historical context. So much time saved when it pulls context. A lot of times the follow-ups are on point as well, which is fun.

Life hits hard when you're from a line of diabetics. As an ex-prediabetic, I'm aware of just how scary it can be when you slowly kill yourself with invisible habits. I guess I'm glad I shared my story with my siblings. I reversed mine, and can somewhat support them.

Not sure if jetlag or just getting to the age where you sleep at crash/sleep at 9pm and do whatever at 2AM and onwards. It's been 8 days. I used to recover in 2. What's going on? Do I need to start eating melatonin? Exercise just makes me skip the nap urge.

A month later, my priorities are shifting, but not by too much 1. I'm preparing the possibility of expanding my career 2. I'm preparing for expanding to being more fitness-oriented with my partner 3. I'm preparing to travel even more - to live life to its fullest - and bring my kids along our ride

Hermit: - I leave the house once or twice a week to run errands and condense things for maximum efficiency. - A lot more phone calls, texting, and less meeting up in person. Quite weird to pick this up more because two kids with activities made this unfathomable previously. - I flew to TX on a whim.

Hobbies: - TV: I watched a lot of anime. It was nostalgic. I'm caught up now on One Piece in Netflix. - Solitude time: As a person who doesn't listen to music for fun, I started favoriting Japanese songs by vibes on Apple Music. A mix of childhood nostalgia, screaming that is Ado, and heavy base.

Health: - I meal prep for the week. This was after few days of assorted drinking and food snacks. This cleared the fridge for space and temptation (lol ice cream). - I lost weight and gained muscles exercise and clean diet. - My sleep needs went down to 6 hours from 8. I wanted to wake up earlier?

There needs to be a word for techies who start to mimicry our AI overlords. I mean look at this response. Part human, part AI verbiage.
the x is the y worth z - a common pattern of AI responses now making its way to human responses.
