As Order of the Sinking Star is coming out next month, in advance of review coverage coming in I wanted to add one thing to my last statement about the game: bsky.app/profile/drak... (note: at that time I didn’t have a separate personal account)

I have it wishlisted, but yeah. Robot combat is not something I care about much in Patlabor. Combat should not be the focus.

Hooded Horse is certainly a recognisable “strategy” brand. They do different shades of strategy games, city builders too. I’ve checked who published recent builders I know of, and other than them: All Will Fall was published by tinyBuild, Life Below was published by Kasedo.

So this game called "Dverghold" came across my Steam homepage. Interesting retro vibes, apparently collabing with a dungeon synth artist for the OST. The art was kinda tickling my AI-dar though, so I scrolled down to look for any disclaimers.

I’ve finally begun to play Quantum Break, and it was a similar experience, but compressed in time. I didn’t like the combat after first encounters. It got a lot better once I stated unlocking powers. But it is a linear game, and it gets there faster.

We did get along in the end. Because, yeah. I like shooters requiring movement. And the combat in Control does. One thing it certainly isn’t is slow. And once you start getting more powers, the combat really starts to sing. But it takes some time to get there.

I have some problems with Control. I don’t feel the structure worked in its favour. You could miss abilities. Some of the side stuff felt like padding. Pacing suffered. The difficulty was uneven. I had a hard time in the beginning (I did not invest upgrade points wisely).

Pompeii is a UNESCO world heritage site not because it was remarkable in its prime, but because it survived to our era untouched: one moment, preserved for all time. But future generations won't know what OUR world was like unless we do the same. This is why we MUST bury Toronto with a volcano

Okay, I am not asking politely. If you have £4 of gaming budget to spare, grab Carter's Quest. It is a VERY good fusion of Devil May Cry and Zelda 64 with a really weird and interesting setting, some BIG story ideas of its own, and it is extremely bisexual. store.steampowered.com/app/2409110/...

Depends on surgery I suppose. I was awake during one. Probably not that uncommon for some procedures. For which local anaesthesia suffices. Not a terrible experience.

Whenever I talk to students or young artists, I tell them, whatever else you do with it, put your webcomic on your own website you own that you made yourself. Then no one but you can take it down. It is easier than it has ever been to make your own website.

And a little game called A Pet Shop After Dark. I played the original itch version. It probably isn’t the first game doing the things it does, but it was for me. If we are going for obvious, I feel the first Portal fits. I’ve seen Basilisk 2000 recommended like this. But I’ve yet to play it.

I’d say Type Help. But maybe now I should say Incident at the Galley House. Can’t decide. I’m very fond of Zero Ecape trilogy. Though 999 port is not ideal. I’ve just finished both Paranormasights. Should be played blind. The second does some prettty clever things on the way to true ending.

2000 AD publishing a Silent Hill comic may cause some confusion, so lets clear it up. To the left is Judge Dredd. To the right is a dread judge.
Judge Joseph DreddRed Pyramid Thing, also known as Pyramid Head, known for his judgment of guilty souls.

Last time I’ve played was when they added the smelter thing. For me it was: none of the mechanics were compelling. Progress felt slow. Procedural generation meant I could find nice landscapes but never truly interesting things. And everywhere is full of people, I don’t feel like explorer.

I’ve played a bit not long after it came out. I did not expect much, I feel I got my money’s worth. It was nice to just wander here and there. But the actual gameplay, yeah. Not very fun. I will probably come back to it at some point, but I still don’t expect much.

I’ve played both Paranormasights back to back. Great games. Great characters. Nice meta twists. Compared to the first, the second has some pacing problems, it overdoes the loredumps. But it nails the ending brilliantly. You really have to work for it. I want a third game. And the manga translation.

Can’t say I’m not concerned. The first one had some unnecessary bloat that I thought was there just to cater to the dollar per playhour people. Still gonna play it, though.
