I posted this on FB but figured I would here too. Please share this with family members especially those who may not be tech savvy. My in-laws fell for it, luckily they check with me now first.Taking advantage of the elderly just makes me mad. It’s up to us to teach them:

Quantum Bits- Quantum Entanglement. Teen 1 picks a red shirt, meanwhile his friend across the ocean puts on the exact same outfit, again! Hmm…Quantum entanglement vibes? Meanwhile, the cats—still salty over Schrödinger’s box—knock stuff off tables. As they do…No regrets. #edusky
Boy in red shirt with band logo, girl with matching shirt, a line between them shows marking their spaces. Both look at their cellphones delighted and surprised that they match. Each has a striped cat in their room, that mischievously bats physics books off furniture to the floor.

Quantum Bits- Traditional vs Quantum Processing. Adult brains make up reasons not to fold laundry one excuse at a time. My teen's brain generates all excuses at once and instantly determines how to get her sibling to do it instead. Cats don't need excuses, they want a warm pile to sleep on. #EduSky
Two sisters sitting on a couch one is lounging, one is folding, the cat is on the laundry pile sleeping.

Quantum Bits- Superpositions. It's 8 am the alarm goes off. Is the teen under a pile of laundry & blankets or upright and moving? Both. Until you check. For the record, the cat was never in the box or part of the experiment. It was always in the doorway, watching Schrödinger struggle with reality.

Quantum Bits-Superposition: The Homework Paradox - Your teenager has both finished and not finished their homework—until you ask. Checking forces reality to settle on one. The cat, however, does not care.

Reminder for the new semester that you can’t detect AI Researchers secretly added AI-created papers to the exam pool: “We found that 94% of our AI submissions were undetected. The grades awarded to our AI submissions were on average half a grade boundary higher than that achieved by real students”

What percentage of students are you willing to falsely accuse of cheating with AI? There is a trade-off between false accusations and detection rates for AI. At a 10% false positive rate, detectors find 80% or less of AI content. At a 1% rate most find 60% or less. Don’t trust AI detectors!

A roller coaster with predictive AI in the past, generative AI as our present, and interactive bots as our future. The rollercoaster dips to follow a standard change curve with the future as a big hill.
