It's officially Autumn. I don't like the chilly weather much, but I'm happy to see pretty fall colors and Halloween decor. The one time of year when the horror genre is truly celebrated. 💀🎃🔪

🧵 In high school, in the early 90s, my speech coach nicknamed me "Gloria". I wore this name with pride. I had long wavy hair and wore metal rimmed glasses and was a fierce feminist. In my little Indiana town, this was odd. Many people assumed I was a lesbian (I wasn't but sometimes wished I was).

I finished reading The Stepford Wives last night. That Ira Levin really knew how to tell a story. I need to read his other works, but I am so glad I finally read this one. It's a tight, compelling, brilliant whip of a novella. And feels just as relevant now as it did back then.

I tried to save a tiny spider today. It was dry and struggling so I put water on my finger tip. It crawled on and seemed to be lapping it up. But it couldn't stay there, so I added water to a plant on my window sill and placed it there. Maybe its time had come, but it felt like the thing to do.
