You need to get it out! They are not that hard to use. Practice on scraps of cotton first so you can play with the stitches and the tension. Then make a simple cotton pillow cover. Hit YouTube is you get stuck! Happy sewing!

You Tube videos are also a great way to learn! If you have an older machine and don’t know how to thread it, the manual is most likely online!

I was honored to visit Our Lady Salam, the first Arabic-speaking Lutheran parish on Staten Island. Its congregants hail from as close as Hylan Blvd to as far as Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Jordan, & Egypt — yet have planted roots in our city. Many carry the weight of war and genocide daily.
