A new cat has been discovered in Bolivia, the first time in over a century that scientists have confirmed a new feline species. Named Leopardus tilcayo, the cat weighs roughly five pounds and has a light brown coat patterned with dark rosettes.

I feel for many of these opening ceremony presenters at Blizzcon. So many of them just do a terrible job at getting you excited about their games. Doing well at these types of presentations take a lot of time & effort to pull off. Hopefully the actual panels do a better job of generating excitement.

Done: Insane in the Membrane. #wow

The World of Warcraft achievement, Insane in the Membrane. It requires seven hard to level reputations.

Darkmoon Faire, which only happens once a month for a week.
Ravenholdt, which means killing mobs until Honored. After that you have to turn in 1440 Heavy Junkboxes, which can only be pick-pocketed by a rogue. Luckily the junkboxes can be mailed to other characters.
Bloodsail Buccaneers, which only needs to be at Honored. The catch is that raising your Bloodsail rep wrecks the four sub-factions of the Steamwheedle Cartel.
Steamwheedle Cartel (Booty Bay, Everlook, Gadgetzan, and Ratchet). Leveling these back up from 0/36,000 Hated means killing lots and lots of Southsea Pirates at five / two rep points per pirate. (Five for Gadgetzan and two for the other three). You're going to have to kill close to 30,000, yes, 30,000 pirates to go all the way to Exalted. 84,000 rep points in total.

This is why the title is "the Insane".

AI, more specifically LLMs are a, duh, contentious issue. As a content consumer, I don't want to see LLMs used for traditionally creative work. I want to see human art, hear human music, read human stories, play human games. It's the imperfections of human creativity that pulls me in.

So... Riushi is now Exalted with Ravenholdt. The last quest turn-in was for one reputation point because the 280 previous quest turn-ins only got her to 20,999 or 21,000 needed. Now for Steamwheedle Cartel where I need around 84,000 reputation points to go from rock bottom Hated to Exalted.

The text on the screenshot reads:

The next step of the Insane title done. (Darkmoon Faire rep basically being a gimmee at this point). Now I have to repair and get all my goblin rep to exalted. I didn't need to hit Exalted as Honored would do for the achievement, but I might as well max the rep while I was grinding it. #wow

A reputation bar in World of Warcraft: Bloodsail Buccaneers. The bar is maxxed out at Exalted. Once this was very difficult, but now it is mostly tedious to do.

Our air conditioner isn’t working. It died last weekend, but nothing was done until today when we have a triple digit (40+ Celsius) heat index warning. Hopefully it will be fixed quickly. This is not an endeavor I want to be sweaty about. 😉

Speaking of blue dots, I am tired of apps that think their BS is actually important. I'm at the point where, by default, I turn off notifications, badges, and the ilk. These things have basically become 'attention spam' because companies don't know when to stop. :sigh: #notify #spam

I did the Darkspear Dash in #wow. I found it a fun little micro-event. I made a level 1 troll and did the race on foot. Many were running it on max level characters with their flying mounts, but I found there was enough boosts for low-level characters to make the run pretty quick even on foot.

The Midsummer event is a bit buggy as sometimes the first goodie bag of the day doesn't have any of the special rewards. I have found that running it a second time on a different character will give you a big that has one of the special items. #wow

I've been enjoying Ahune, the #wow Midsummer event boss. They've tuned him enough that you have enough of the fight to feel like you can contribute and not just be carried. It's also not so punishing as the (long ago now) original version. A plus is that you get ported into where the boss is now.

#wow really needs to go to a 12 week update cycle as they can't manage decent quality on launch day with an 8 week cycle. :sigh: I mean, I will trade less features I'll forget about in a few months for being able to actually play the game in a normal fashion.

#wow patch day breakage continues. All my realms are "Incompatible" and the Battle.net launcher won't update to the latest patch. I'm at the step of uninstall and reinstall the game. I'm glad I'm not on a metered connection for this 120 GB (re-)download.

TIL that in Dragonflight the flightpoints into Zaralek Cavern are connected to the outside world. I didn't realize you could click on the Caverns when you have the flightmaster map up to see those destinations. -.-

This was a surprise achievement. We had failed to meet the timer on a +11 Windrunner Spire due to mistakes and a few bugs. I wasn't expecting it to count towards the achievement, but it did. That was a nice reward for stuffing up a key. ^_^ (1/2) #wow

RIP Lou Zocchi. Zocchi Distribution was a wonderful resource in back in the day for those of us in more rural areas. When hobby game stores were hours away and probably didn't have what you wanted in stock, being able to mail order things was a blessing.

Well, my little friends group hit a 2,000 rating in Mythic+. Pretty cool for reaching just a couple of days after having cataract surgery on my other (left) eye. This season has been the most fun for me since Challenge Modes in Mists of Pandaria and Warlords of Draenor. #wow #warcraft

A mount, the Calamitous Carrion, and two achievements. Midnight Keystone Master: Season One for hitting a Mythic+ Rating of 2000 or more (which is what the mount is for). Midnight Season 1: Champion of the Dawn gives a Catalyst charge for hitting that 2000 Mythic+ rating.

I had cataract surgery on my right eye this last week. Because I have bad astigmatism I went for the 'premium' trifocal lens to correct that. The clarity I now get in my right eye is fantastic, but the part that surprised me was just how much yellow my cataracts are tinting my vision. (1/x)

While daily rewards can be nice and an incentive to login, having them tied to the calendar (@elderscrollsonline.com's calendar month event and @swtor.com's day of the week rewards) always feels punishing if you miss a day. Feeling behind should never be tied to logging into a game.

One of the things I do in #Wow is collect raid/dungeon appearance sets. This is where I currently stand. Originally you needed to collect set appearances by class, though look-alikes could be collected by armor type. (1/x)

My time played in #Wow broken down by class using the Account Played addon. The numbers are close, but not exact as I have deleted characters over the years, but I suspect I'm not out by more than a week or so. (A month at most and that would be very generous.)

My time played in Wow broken down by class. The most played is Paladin at 33.2% - roughly 412 days. The least played is the newest class, Evoker, at 0.2% - 2 days 1 hour. The total play time on the list is 3 years and 149 days.
