Damage in #Victoria included broken windows, broken pipes, and items knocked off shelves. Detailed study: pubs.geoscienceworld.org/ssa/bssa/art... ⚒️🧪 0303

Casey Burns @paleoflute.bsky.social · 31/12/2024Jumping an hour ahead for Daylight Savings Time next March is simply not enough temporal dislocation. How about we instead set our clocks 4 years ahead tomorrow night and wake up to a Bright and Sunny January 1st, 2028. 020
Casey Burns @paleoflute.bsky.social · 28/12/2024Let’s do some Maths. Canada has a slightly higher population than California. So when it becomes the 51st state, will it get 52 Representatives? Most of these will be pissed at Trump and will caucus with the Dems. As will the 2 Senators each from Canada, Greenland and Panama. Maths are hard 010

Casey Burns @paleoflute.bsky.social · 24/11/2024I am so busy in the real world that my virtual world suffers from an existential crisis. I need to go plug my phone into the charger. “Chicken Run” is playing in the living room. This is more relevant to me at the moment. 020

Casey Burns @paleoflute.bsky.social · 16/11/2024This is the label I engrave onto the flutes and other wind instruments that come out of my workshop. The star shape is originally from Moore and Vokes (1953) but I had to alter it a but for my current laser engraver. 030

Casey Burns @paleoflute.bsky.social · 16/11/2024Have you seen the movie filmed during the pandemic called Crabs? It’s a low budget horror film filmed around Mendocino and Fort Bragg on the California coast. Giant mutant horseshoe crabs go on a rampage. It’s a hoot, especially if one has lived on that coast as I have in the past. Enjoy! 020
Casey Burns @paleoflute.bsky.social · 16/11/2024For #FossilFriday my last specimen of Isocrinus oregonensis collected before a large landslide covered the locality in the mid 1990s. We were still able to figure out that it’s methane seep involved and research is still ongoing. Search for “exceptional crinoids” for our preliminary P3 paper 192

Casey Burns @paleoflute.bsky.social · 16/11/2024Here’s some of the data I collected recently at the library of Congress. This flute was once owned by President Madison. Most recently it was played by Lizzo. Immediately after all the conservative pundits became experts about 19th century glass flutes, and why she shouldn’t be allowed to play them 110
Casey Burns @paleoflute.bsky.social · 16/11/2024I have been researching with the aim of being able to make flutes in glass for the last 20 years of my career. This one was made in about 1815 by Claude Laurent. It’s been said that nobody will be able to make these ever again. I plan to disprove that next year! 010
Casey Burns @paleoflute.bsky.social · 16/11/2024FYI this is what I do for my day job, making these. I do echinoderm paleo for fun. I have 12 more flutes to make and then I can consider myself officially retired. And of course, I will be busier than ever. Doing what? Working on flutes of course. Glass flutes specifically. 020
