Saw @springsteen last night for the first time ever in concert. A total bucket list item. I could post clips of Born in the USA or War and maybe I will. But the part that made me cry the most was his opening monologue and this one. I had no idea how much I needed the end of this spiel — to know that honesty and truth and decency still matter at least to everyone in the LA Forum last night. If you can see The Boss while he’s on tour, entirely because America is on fire and he didn’t know what else to do, you must. The man is 76 with the energy of a man half his age. I swear it was church.He ended the concert by saying something I’ll probably talk about more — that it’s our obligation, each of us, to do something and to say something. I’ve been thinking about that a lot lately. In previous generations, when atrocities occurred, humans had the excuse of not knowing. We don’t have that excuse anymore. It’s easy to be numb to it, but here’s a guy who could be resting on a whole lot of laurels and a pile of money right now. I’m so grateful he isn’t — he’s an artist using his platform.
