IFPG & PSG Consulting released a new report on two research-backed strategies, prebunking and inoculation, that help stop mis- and disinformation before it spreads. The takeaway: it's not too late for 2026, and it's not optional for 2028. ▶️ Watch the replay: www.psgconsulting.com/videos/v/cou...

Page S. Gardner @pagegardner.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
Taken together, the research shows that prebunking can be effective across audiences and at scale—but there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Organizations must consider the content, audience and environment in which people will encounter each message.
000
Page S. Gardner @pagegardner.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
4) Delivery matters. Paid placements on YouTube and Instagram demonstrate that prebunking can reach very large audiences, but effects vary by content, audience, country and delivery conditions.
100
Page S. Gardner @pagegardner.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
3) Hard-to-reach audiences are not necessarily immune. Positive effects have been found among highly skeptical voters and adults 45 and older.
100
Page S. Gardner @pagegardner.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
2) Simple factual prebunking can work. Election studies suggest that useful new information can sometimes produce benefits even without an explicit warning that misinformation is coming.
100
Page S. Gardner @pagegardner.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
1) Inoculation can work at real-world scale. Large election and social-media studies show that short prebunking interventions can improve people’s ability to recognize manipulation and make better judgments about misinformation.
