33 Operational data centers today 67 under construction 39 are proposed 5027 reported by local communities. Y'ALL. This is bad. But you know what's even worse? They're being built in areas already going through droughts. #NoDataCenters www.brockovichdatacenter.com#map-section
33 operational datacenters. 67 under construction. Another 39 have been proposed. And 5027 potential ones reported by communities all across the US. From droughtmonitor.unl.edu we see that much of the land in the United States is experiencing some drought. Florida has the worst conditions, followed by the southwest, leading over the Rockies into Utah. But all of the East coast is undergoing drought, as is the northern midwest states of minnesota, wisconsin, down into Illinois. You can't even see Colorado and Kansas.

There is one book I have read way more than any other in my life. Not the Bible. Which I've read 2x. Not the New Testament ( 7x) Not Waiting for Godot, which I've read at least 7 times. Ninja Gaiden, a Worlds of Power book. I read it TEN times.

I stopped calling myself an Evangelical Christian in 2016. It wasn't because I stopped believing in Jesus. It was because I did not want the same label that applies to folks who support this. he said this on Easter Sunday — not that he cared. Even a little. He is so anti-Christ it's ridiculous.

One older example.
Gemini alphabetizing my message. Not the table cell I asked it to

Padding doesn't inherit. You can't accidentally add it; only intentionally. You can give one of them padding and it'll never be "passed down". Now, other properties, like border and color inherit. But making intentional choices about where you want to apply the property saves you.
codepend demonstrating that padding doesn't inherit.

My Boss: So you're using AI for work now, right? How's it going? The AI:
I highlighted a table cell in a google doc and asked gemini to sort the words alphabetically. This mother fucker sorted the message I sent to it alphabetically. Like a moron.

I only took two years of math in high school. I stopped after Algebra 2. My original degree was Foreign language International Trade. Changed that b/c I couldn't do the bus calculus class. Whole life has been redirected b/c I chose to avoid any advanced math. Now for my M.S. in Linguistics:
A question I must answer. It asks: When does cos(a,b) = a * b?

This has major, "I don't hurt animals; I buy meat at the grocery store" vibes. Zero knowledge of where the thing comes from. Just none. wild.
Thanks for the questions and super valuable feedback! To be totally honest, I came from a Svelte/Framework background and just did not deeply consider/realise you can create a pure dom version and event handling with just plain js. It's definitely a valid point that I'll take into consideration into designing the next version. Currently it does seem a bit overengineered since the React, Vue and Svelte implementations are actually all wrappers over web components, and still potentially offer some (potential) advantages in advanced state management which I have not yet explored. I'll definitely look into this more deeply.

My therapist telling me I need to learn to not take myself so seriously while I'm wearing a shirt that says "Live, laugh, toaster bath!" gives me lots of conflicting feelings
Blue t-shirt, available on MandatoryFunDay dot com, featuring a toaster that's plugged in to an outlet giddily jumping into a clawfoot bathtub with bubbles at the top.

The implication, of course, is a happy suicide

I'm looking for any historians specialized in #Illinois or #NativeAmericans ... particularly in Southern Illinois. I want to know how/if I can confirm if a cave painting I found in the Panther Den Wilderness of Shawnee National forest is valid.
Cave drawing of a quadruped facing to the right. It has a curved tail that goes up and over its backside.

@johngreensbluesky.bsky.social Mr. Green I'm on chapter 8 of your book and I bought it Thursday. It is a remarkable read thus far and I thank you for writing it.
John Green is right that everything IS tuberculosis.

It's nuts that this disease has a cure and is still killing us.

Let's hope that one day we can say , 'Everything WAS tuberculosis '

I'm always casually fascinated by how different news organizations prioritize the news. Fox News think the biggest deal in the world is the "X outage". CNN is all, "Republicans make deal, oh... and Twitter outage" AP is like, "Y'ALL GONNA BE TAXED ON ELECTRICITY" with a tag at the top "x outage"
Fox news dot com's big headline is 'Elon Musk vows to trace hackers behind massive cyberattack', followed by 'doge looks to cancel Biden's $3 billion move for USPS, 'trump puts chokehold on US adversary's profits' and 'sanders scorched online after trans singer at his rally attacks...'

CNN's homepage articles are "republicans succeed in persuading must as democrats hit dead ends", "US stock selloff depends" and then, much smaller, "x, formerly twitter, hit by waves of outages"Associated Press talks about Ontario putting a 25% tariff on electricity, a columbia student facing deportation, and Syria. "X outage" is mentioned only in a news ticker at the top.

Y'all. Cherokee is a wild language. Apparently it's somewhat pitch-based, at least for some words. And THIS IS THE EXAMPLE THEY GIVE #linguistics #cherokee #politics #democrat #warm
In Cherokee, the distinction between the phrase, "it is warm," and, "she is a Democrat," is the pitch of the individual syllables.

XKCD always knowing how to be relevant.
All modern digital infrastructure depends on a collection of tiny contributions to the world where any one of those contributions could bring the whole thing down. Or, sometimes, a $3 Billion cybersecurity company who should've known better than to deploy on a Friday

The word "Bulldozer" has a surprise etymology Oof
By the late 1870s, "to bulldoze" and "bulldozing" were being used throughout the United States to describe intimidation "by violent and unlawful means",[13] which sometimes meant a severe whipping or coercion, or other intimidation, such as at gunpoint.[14] It had a particular meaning in the Southern United States as a whipping or other punishment for African Americans to suppress black voter turnout in the 1876 United States presidential election.[15][16][17]

We can all be terrible people from time-to-time but try to make your goal to never be so terrible as to be the physical basis for how evil will be presented in film.
You've got to be a remarkably shitty person to be the model for a whole-ass race of evil humanoids in a major hollywood production.

Alternate Tweet: Canadian with with Ph.D in Psychology finds it suspicious that an American can be accused of committing more than one crime at a time.
Jordan B. Peterson, a Canadian psychologist, sharing his thoughts about the trump indictments thusly:

One of the primary reasons I view the Trump prosecution with skepticism is the sheer volume and diverse nature of the charges

My sense is that throwing everything possible at someone to see what sticks

Is the strategy of people who are flailing about madly

Rather than targeted, principled action

It will never not bother me that reading the Irish language is like reading a prank between two drunk Irish monks in the 11th century about which letters make what sounds.

Someone on the X app asked what the 5 major theological disputes would be across the tens of thousands of christian denominations. And I was like, "bruh. FIVE?"
Major branches start with the end of the apostolic era. The council of Ephesus created the Assyrian Church. Council of Chalcedon created the Oriental Orthodox. The Great Schism in the 11th century created Eastern Orthodoxy and Roman Catholicism.

Then the Reformation in the 16th century resulted in Anabaptism, Calvinism, Anglicanism, and Lutheranism.
