Autism is a huge umbrella, and both end of the spectrum need proper recognition. If governments want to reduce welfare expenditure, cutting payments without fixing underlying difficulties just pushes the cost elsewhere. We need targeted support, not a culture war. 6/6

I receive no benefits, drugs, therapy, or help whatsoever. I paid for my own diagnosis. It hasn't made life better; it's just made it make sense. It helps explain my mental health and why I am the way I am, but it's not an excuse, a "superpower," or my identity. It's just who I am. 1/2

Been on sertraline and propranolol for a while now. It’s definitely slowed down the racing thoughts and I feel much calmer. A bit flat, sure. If you asked, I’d say I feel "blah!", but honestly? I’d take flat over spiky any day of the week.

Victorian style schooling fails all children, but it completely abandons those with ASN. One size fits all education has let down generations of kids and will ruin the next. If you want to fix ASN in schools, change how we educate. Treat kids as individuals, not meat for the grinder.

I don’t struggle with social cognition. I run it explicitly, on purpose, with effort while you do it on autopilot and call that “natural.” That’s not a deficit. That’s a different engine doing the same job with less fuel efficiency and more honesty. #ActuallyAutistic

That is the reality of most social things for me. It is a constant love hate relationship. I genuinely want to be there, but it always costs me something massive to achieve it, both things happening at the exact same time. But having the right support makes it possible. 5/5
