I'm quitting my job after working for same employer for 5 years. I'm not sure what I'll do next. At my age I guess I'll have to start up some business again. A remote job could be interesting though... Either way, it feels good to turn the page and start something new.

Developers gonna need protective gear before this danger spirals out of control! I'm gonna bring pot holders to work and keep em close at all times from now on!

Same, I don't block anyone on Bluesky, but I have muted some accounts.

PA Ulander @pa-dev.bsky.social · 25/02/2026

I keep getting blocked on Bluesky by people I’ve never interacted with, which honestly seems quite efficient. The two main types seem to be: AI haters: blocks anything AI-ish. Bot detectives: blocks anyone who writes in complete sentences. I'm guilty of both... But I’m pretty sure I'm not a bot. 🐈🤖

I got a little distracted, and forgot to add node_modules to .gitignore today. Switched branches and tried to merge, and my damn laptop almost melted... Jeez... The danger is real 😅

Thank you kindly 😊 There are many similar counters out there made by clever devs, so not my idea. As for reason, I needed a small project to practise how to use new Laravel and testing with PEST and DUSK. And I always wanted to have a hitcounter on gh, so for fun and to learn things I guess 🙂

Oh I didn't think about tangled, thanks for reminding me! I think tangled is a fantastic initiative. It makes me happy that there are people that still start collective projects 👍 but still alpha... but maybe 😊 I'ts a contender for sure!

I'm thinking like not based/located in, or owned by a company that is based in the US. Bitbucket is definately an alternative to consider for me.

Does anyone here have experience with, and can recommend, an alternative to github that is not affiliated with the US?

Wow -68, hats off to you! 🫡 I got a job w coding in eof 90's. Doing websites. So perl / html at first. Ftp'ing files to a testing server. If approved (by the boss), ftp'd to the prod server. Years later my boss for some reason wanted me to use php, so I did. Mostly done webby things since then.

Hi 🙂 Thanks for asking. The script throttles requests, Laravel style, & uses cache-control headers on the server. There are limitations, a user may encounter status 429 if doing to many requests, & the counter may "stall" temporarily. So I don't really deal with it to be honest.
